I think we need two more sections

1) Documentaries: If we like any good documentary of any kind... be It Military, Science, History, Technology or anything we can post in one section. As usually the documentaries are very informative I find a dire need of this section in this forum so whenever we are in good of watching some good documentaries we can go to that particular section rather than finding from the General Images & Videos section.

2) Tourism in Pakistan: A section to promote tourism in Pakistan. Only Pakistan related threads should be allowed there and all the videos, images we usually post in General Media and Members club should be moved/posted there.

Since PDF is a very busy forum I am sure it will indirectly help Pakistan by promoting tourism and/or bringing awareness of the beauty of Pakistan before the world.

Usually the pictures that we post about Pakistan gets buried in the 1000s of threads we are posting regularly and if we have a dedicated section for this purpose it will be very helpful for all of us. There we can also have a separate mega-threads for each and every city of Pakistan so that if anybody is interested in visiting a particular city of our beautiful country they can find everything at one place

What say?

Documentaries need to be posted in the military multimedia section.

Tourism of Pakistan is important but cannot be covered by "defence" site. There will be future efforts to cover that area, but for now it is as it is.

But I was talking about the dedicated section to cover the documentaries only. I was thinking to cover the wider range of documentaries and not only Military stuff. Documentaries are always very informative and I think it would be a good addition to this forum... It won't cost much towards the website's bandwidth but might be a good effort to glue some mature members to this forum as the documentaries are only popular among the adults

hmmm I understand,
But I guess you can give it a try?

Create a dedicated section for a month and see how it goes... We can move all the sticky threads (pictures of Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad etc) from General Images to this particular section. May be we can talk about the developments taking place in Pakistan (in pictures only), may be some unseen beauty of the country. If it doesn't work well you can re-merge it in a matter of clicks

If similar content is posted in General Images section its usually too fast and becomes obsolete in a matter of days. Its just like a sub-section of JF-17 coming out of Military aviation to cover that particular subject in wider range

Just an opinion, The decision is yours

We can have sticky threads on both the topics.

Create new threads, in the section to which that documentary relates to - also please take copyright violations into consideration.

About tourism, Member's club should be enough. We will be a poor venue to promote tourism for Pakistan, it would just be interesting to post things about Pakistan but can't be dedicated to it.

the 'officers mess' has unfortunately not caught on - maybe that section cld be re-organised!?

Maybe because the descriptive statement qualifies only two limited groups to post there?

"A forum exclusively for debate amongst the highly professional members of Defence.pk - The Think Tank Group and the Military Professionals on Pakistani issues"

The main reason for the inactivity in that location has primarily to do with the limited people having the capability of posting there.

Could you please define the capabilities needed to post there for my benefit?

the TT tends to post in the TT section and the MP's are 'in-consistent' in their participation.

Hi,

Nothing substantial has come out of the THINK TANK in the recent past---only second hand news---Millitary pros---they are still keeping upto the task---But Think Tank---very poor performance---nothing original.

So what IS the Think Tank? Could anyone please tell me.

I think, there should be a proper "Middle East" Sections in which Arab-Israel conflict, Arab-Iranian conflict & Arab Secularist Vs Isalmist etc. are debated in more details, Proper ME directly effects Greater ME which we are a part.

Socondly, their should be a proper "Russian Defence" Section as well, Russian Geo-politics with Nato is more effects on Pakistan than a far away USAs, I believe.

Hi,

Ask different members and they may have different answers---supposedly Think Tank was to set the standards and guidlelines of discussions---start up threads with unique insights about different issues facing the nation through personal experience and professional research---.

That is what I did as a Think Tank member when I was one---the current Think Tank has gone the way of pakistani politics---.

It is a shame the the leadership is being run by someone who can afford a membership to a defence magazine and can post articles from it. The fruit doesnot fall too far from the tree---.:pakistan:

So where is this TT section? Or is it hidden from the general membership?
