No. They have a right not to acknowledge the National Anthem, if it militates against their religious beliefs. There is a Supreme Court judgement on this. But these two did what they did for political purposes, out of political conviction. Asking them to leave was absolutely the correct step. No more, no less.

They did good job telling them to leave as it is an duty for every citizen to respect the national anthem and national flag

It is not a duty. It is a right. An individual may not exercise his or her right.

Good job Army. Time to rid ourselves of this disease that Congress has promoted in India.

An immature and remarkably shallow statement. No Indian political party has 'promoted' this behaviour. It stems from their separatist views.

Way too harsh, in my opinion. It could have been an honest mistake. They could have been very tired and so they forgot.

It was not. The two publications in question make it a point to twist everything that they can twist and misrepresent things. I can take you into Facebook discussions which will put you off in ten minutes, as you realise how some of the moderators consistently work on the rest of the members and their emotions and feelings.

It was a right reaction by the army. They should have caned the asses of those journalists!

From our childhood we are taught to respect our flag and our anthem. No matter how busy we are, we automatically stand up in attention during National Anthem.

That would have been an egregious breach of the law. No crime was committed, no process of law would have been followed, and punishment inflicted by a self-appointed body is grossly illegal, downright anti-national.

Next, did you read the statement of the dolt who was asked to leave ?

A man who does not hear the national anthem must either be deaf of trying to prove a point. Since he heard & responded when asked to leave , he mustn't be deaf.

If he was trying to make a point, the Army also made its point.

Shall serve as a lesson to fools who try to score brownie points.
