being away from family causes lot of pressure to the individual and hardships to family at home. They will be powerless at time to help family back at home financially and emotionally. To top that senior officers are jerks who dont care about these things any request for absence will be met with refusal. Societies support to soldiers is also minimum, just think if you want to file a complaint with police unless you are not strong enuf the very system that is supposed to protect you will abuse you.
