But the impact on morale is obvious and that is what I hate. Whenever such an attack takes place it demoralizes the society and makes us more cynical. Pakistan has been suffering this for decades and what I hate is that every time a terrorist attack takes place successfully the terrorists are successful. Them being successful burns the hell out of me and enrages me. I feel powerless to stop them despite my entire life loving Pakistan.

If I had the chance I would stand right now and go to Turkey or Pakistan to fight the ISIS and every other equal or such threat faced by our nations. I want to feel like I am doing something for my country. Terrorism is no outsider to this region. Today 4 FC personnel died in my country. We know how you feel brother. Funny guy first rid your country of IS vermin and then make sure to not do the same shit tha Saddam or Maliki did (oppressing Sunni/Shia people) and then maybe you'll have a chance of keeping Iraq in 1 piece. We are in the unfortunate position that our neighbours to our south (Middle East) is the boiling pot of earth right now. We share thousands of kilometers borders with other countries and Iraq/Syria are our neighbours. Indonesia consists of islands, renders protection much easier.

Those two things seem to be mutually exclusive. The reason Turkey became a secular state under Kemal Ataturk was because he aggressively imposed Western ideas and structures on Turkey, from classic Western republican governmental forms, Turkish civil law, that was based on the Swiss Civil Code, the Code of Obligations and the German Commercial Code, even the Turkish language was rendered into a new Latin alphabet. Secularism, a guiding principle throughout the West, was also adopted. I know there were Ottoman influences as well, but the opponents of Kemalism, both when Ataturk was alive until today, are almost always critical of his imposition of Western ideas and values that has defined the Turkish republic.

Yes, forced secularism down the throat of a people who were deeply traditional and non-urban (back then % of urban pop. was around 4-5 percent, at max) was carried out. Perhaps not the best way, but necessary.
What we see today is a synthetic Turkish/Islamic identity. We've remained Muslims, in practice and private, but our state institutions are still secular/laik. This works, that some Arab ideology from Middle East is invading our nation with their screwed ideology and terrorism doesn't make the current socio make-up less valid. Even the most "radical" Muslim believer in Turkey is nothing next to these Arabic ideologies. And mark my words, this has moved from the space of religion into the space of culture/ethnicity. Daesh Arabs consider Turks as much Western and infidel as French or German. It doesn't matter that we consider ourselves overwhelmingly Muslim.

Guys, stop posting that picture, please... I like to see that our Pakistani friends feel close to us especially in this hard moment but this time I see how most people even those in the west are sorry and sad about what happened last night. Of course I don't talk about those who hate us in the guts and can't even forget about their hate against us in such a hard moment for us but let's not lie each other and admit that there is also a lot of people in our own countries who were happy that those dirty westerners (according to them) were punished when such things happened in Paris and Brussels. Unfortunately there will always be some crazy people who will hate more than they are able love or at least live with the pain in a civilized way.

No matter how much I do not agree with some things happening in Western Europe and all the Anti- Turkish propaganda and behavior by their politicians I will never be happy to see innocent people die in such a way there- a death they were not even expecting, killed by a bunch of cowards who are brave enough to kill kids, women and unarmed people.

The problem with the Islamic terrorism and terror in general should be resolved and we should for once try to work together on that- both Muslim and Western countries... just for once. We should leave our hate from the past, our greed for money and power and try to bring peace with fighting against those basters. I believe we have the power to finish this problem in a month if all big world powers are really willing to do it- **** all conventions about human rights- these people are not human, Terrorists are not human, they are imbeciles who should be wiped out.
