What's new

Two explosions hit Istanbul's Atatürk Airport, 36 dead 140 injured reported

In the early days of Republic, there were mullahs, people who wanted sharia/caliphate back....Ataturk caught them and their supporters, hanged them in trees...Thousands have been killed. Secularism prevailed.

These sub-humans' ideology is sick, there is no reasoning with them...all must be killed.

I don't disagree with treating terrorists like that, but to flatten entire cities is not helpful. It's also costly cause it has to be rebuilt and it gives IS a victory.

So as an example the US deployed 8 Apaches for Mosul operation, this will minimize infrastructural damage as opposed to dropping 500/1000/2000 lb bombs. Fallujah OP was clean compared to other operations, it's a bigger blow to take something from the enemy than to destroy it, whether equipment or city.

As far as i know this is just the beginning!

lets not be smug about it. common decency requires you to stay quiet as a minimum if you don't care much for someone.

History has shown that radicals cannot be reasoned with. No state has ever managed to curtail them without violence. Even the prophet had zero tolerance for them.

Sad to say it, but violence and all out banning of extreme views is proven to work.

So sorry for the loss, we Pakistanis extend our deepest sympathy to our Turkish family at this difficult time. God bless

Turkey's vengeance will be like 'rain from hell'

I would really appreciate if Erdoğan had said that instead of a Turkish analyst. We should level ISIS held cities, killing all the terrorists and their supporters.

Exactly that (no mercy on terrorists; just evaporate them), and plus cleaning off their support base inside Turkey. I have read that PM of Turkey said that at least couple of the attackers/perpetrators are home grown.

This is when terrorism becomes really dangerous -- when the ideology spreads home and produce violence. It is such a violent ideology, the threat of being killed is not a deterrence anymore. Because they seem to love to die.

At home, one needs to fight them on the ideological basis. For this, secular national education is a must. How much of secular education left in Turkey? Turkey may think to stop religion-oriented education, entertainment, fashion, etc.

As you mention in your next post, secularism needs to be reintroduced and forcefully so at every level. Otherwise, it may go only worse. How many Islamic countries left really that do not produce home grown terrorism?

Turkey was one of them until very recently. It is sad, just sad. I guess many wish Ataturk had a second coming. And I agree.

Stay strongs dear Muslims of Turkey.
Turks should learn lessons from the situation of Pakistan.
...
Anybody who has some insight will agree that this kind of terrorism CANNOT be defeated with bombs and airstrikes alone.

Just like Pakistan,Turkey cannot secure each and every airport, school, university and public place in the country.
We are facing a situation in which there is absolutely no shortage of mentally sick individuals ready to blow up themselves in our cities and they certainly have no shortage of targets.
...
Also,it's very important to realize that terrorists will always be getting ideological support from within our populations because of secular/liberalism extremists.Liberal extremism is used to justify religious extremism.

What exactly did you do to stop them? What kind of measures you took?
We went after them with full force. Military courts were established for quick process of these scums and send them to gallows. The ban on death penalty was lifted. For quite some time we were not actually acknowledging that there is a problem which needs a solution. Finally operation Zarb-e-Azab was launched with consensus. We are also now making a stringent border control. You must have heard about the recent skimirish between Afghanistan and Pakistan because of that. I still feel more can be done by going after the heads in Afghanistan. Having said that due to this operation and other measures terrorism has significantly dropped in Pakistan even when we are surrounded by two hostile neighbours hell bent on destabilising us. Now our forces have over a decade long experience in COIN and anti terrorism. I am sure our experience can prove to be helpful by Turkish friends.

And they look pretty from distance. All Smug and safe while you suffer in Turkey. A similar story in Pakistan .

Who are they? “They” consist of the repeat offenders that are the creators & mentors of Al Qaeda, Taliban and its most mutated and violent form ISIS. The crime of Pakistan and Turkey is that they have been in the unfortunate vicinity of these conflict zones of experimentation. With their own local antagonists like PKK, TTP and BLA.. who are supported actively by countries in the neighbourhood and beyond to settle their own scores against Turkey & Pakistan.

and then the internet trolls post sarcastic and snide remarks that range from..

“Its their religion, which is violent ….., they have their hands in it… it is because they only attack ABC not XYZ… they deserve it….. who cares?”

There is a stark difference in reaction to such atrocities if they happen in the west. Then famous landmarks around the world (mostly west) are illuminated with the national flags of the victim country. We get religious & racist insults from the same quarters.

The scum of the social media doesn’t know the resolve of the Turkish people. They have faced worse than this and gave hell to their antagonists in the past and will do the same in the future.

We Pakistanis, the PDF , our civil society and our armed forces are together with our Turkish brothers and sisters in this time of grief because we know your pain. We see this time and again. It pains us too when the same scum of the electronic media mocks us, our religion and our country and celebrates the deaths of our people … our Syria is Afghanistan.. our PKK is BLA and TTP .. and then there are our neighbours & some “distant” countries who get permanent mention in any conflict (religious or territorial .. across the globe)… so we know the challenges and we share the grief.

What we cant expect any condolence or kind words from the smug scum of the internet it makes them happy & fulfils their purpose of virtual life.. our best response is unified and resolute response to the antagonists… both online and offline in virtual world the real world

ISIS is a self-sustaining organism now.. the planners of this new experiment are now watching from safe distance for them Turkey is dispensable and (non-Arab) so acceptable casualty.. just like Pakistan.

But I swear by the Crescents and the stars on our flags.. we will give our middle fingers to these scumbags wherever they live. Our former President Gen Musharraf.. a friend of Turkey said once that you can’t defeat terrorism through passive defensive measures. You have to go after them. Seek them out. Hunt out their route, their financier, their supporters their hideouts and then eradicate them in their nests.

Türkiye için iyi dilekler

Our resident trolls are here as always. You should have taken care of them first. Really funny how they are advising Turkey what to do!

Turkey and Pakistan have committed one cardinal sin in addition to what you have mentioned. Standing up or at least trying to do so for themselves. Most of their recent history both Pakistan and Turkey remained faithful allies of greater powers. But they wiggled way too much for their liking. Pakistan's cardinal sin is to develop nuclear weapons. Turkey dared to become self sufficient economically and take pride in their roots once more. Turkey started become assertive, enforcing its sovereignty and grow as an economic power. All when Greece, the cradle of Western civilization went bankrupt and EU, the mother of all that's good, started to show cracks. How dare they!

These are interesting times. And challenging nevertheless. Time is now to reach out to each other and stand shoulder to shoulder. Pakistan must go all out and hold nothing back to assist Turkey in any way possible we can or they need. We have been fighting terrorism for a long time. This experience must be shared with them immediately and fully. I propose a joint terrorism combat centre set up in either of countries where ideas, training and resources are shared freely. True that Turkey is a NATO member but they ain't going to help them here. West is in bed with Kurdish terrorist organisations remember. As Pakistanis, we can relate to Turkey. We know how it feels to go through such times. It is therefore important to fight this jointly in every way possible and do this before such acts become too frequent.

.
ISIS should not have been allowed to become as powerful as it is now. An unstable Syria and Iraq are a problem for everyone, especially Turkey as the spate of bombings prove. Pakistan must offer Turkey complete support of its anti terrorism resources we can. We have been suffering this constantly and for more than 10 years.
