Well BD cannot hope to put up a good fight against India till 2030 anyway. China will by then have a CBG permanently in the IOR region by then.
Anyway a war does not start out of nowhere, there is a buildup that could take weeks and months. Plenty of time to deploy enough naval assets into the IOR region in time to put paid to any Indian wet dreams of interfering with BD shipping.
Only way that I can see BD itself dealing with the IN is by procuring a force of say 6 SSNs from China. If China was inclined to sell, one of these SSNs will come to at least 1 US billion dollars, can BD afford it?
I was referring to the period beyond 2030. By 2030, we should be able to at least have a strong presence in the BoB but after that we need to look forward to the greater IOR. Our economy is projected to be the 23rd largest by 2050 growing at 5%/year, but since projections by the global institutions are usually underestimated for Bangladesh, we could well become the 15th largest at least. Such huge economy will require huge military presence.
