QUETTA: Two Chinese nationals working in Pakistan were abducted from Quetta’s Jinnah Town on Wednesday.

According to police, unidentified abductors forced the two foreigners into a vehicle at gunpoint and drove away. A passerby was reportedly injured after one of the abductors opened fire.

“A Chinese couple has been kidnapped and their personal guard was injured during the incident,” Anwar ul Haq Kakar, Balochistan’s spokesperson, said.

According to witnesses, the unidentified men tried to abduct three of the foreigners, two women and one man. However, one of them managed to escape.

Police have cordoned off the area and begun the search operation to arrest the kidnappers.

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has asked for an immediate inquiry into the abduction. Zehri directed the Balochistan IGP to take immediate steps for an early recovery of the missing Chinese workers.

He further directed that a standard operating procedure (SOP) be designed for ensuring the safety and security for all the foreigners working in the province.

Jinnah town is considered to be on of the affluent residential areas of the city.

China’s ambassador to Pakistan and other officials have urged Islamabad to improve security, especially in Balochistan, as it is building a new port and funding roads as part of the $57 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) that will connect western China with Pakistan’s Arabian Sea coast.

In March this year, Balochistan higher education secretary Abdullah Jan was abducted from Quetta’s Wahdat Colony. Jan’s son Mohammad Attiuqe said his father was on his way to work when unidentified armed men in a white Toyota Vitz kidnapped him near his house in Wahdat Colony 3rd stop Brewery Road area of Quetta.

If there is any Indian hand in this, which is highly likely then India will feel the heat more than she is feeling right now...This is not something new. Indians have tried to attack/kidnap Chinese engineers even before the inauguration of CPEC, just to defame Pakistan, frustrate China and to prove that Pakistan is not safe country for investment but it didn't work for India. It never worked for India nor will work in future...

Enemy is desperate, a clear sign of or success...
CPEC will be completed faster than anyone can think...:china::pakistan:

Report says they are teachers, don't seem to be usual abduction targets. BTW which police unit or armed forces in Balochistan deal with such circumstances, say investigation, hostage recovery?

Generally police/rangers but given the sensitivity of this matter as foreigners are involved, geopolitics as well....It may be dealt by all LEAs - police to special units/intelligence.

Pak can't even protect two Chinese national that's why China had send troops & warships to defend CPEC. I didn't know RAW had that much influence in pak, China should send more troops in pak as they can't protect few Chinese.

Chinese national would be safe and recovered soon. Go find your aircraft now.

Why don't you find you JF-17 missing since October.

Because it is not missing. :)

Yes, the pilot ejected & was Rescued by Pak Navy, Cause of the Crash is still yet to be determined but i think this particular JF:17 was of No:2 Squadron with call sign "Minhas" stationed at PAF Base Masroor.

The pilot, however, stayed unhurt after he skillfully managed to eject before the aircraft crashed into water.
