every Pakistani has a interest in Agriculture. When i was a little kid i was bombarded with it that Paksitan is an agriculture country and how indus basin is the best possible land for irrigation. Look even in China they irrigate the land size of Punjab and feed 2 billion people and i was like wtf is wrong with our people.

Actually, agriculture still forms the spine of our economy (not to debate how weak or strong it is right now).
As for cash crop, it is right of the people really and they will always go for the crops that pay them the best. It is the job of gov. to produce proper suitable varieties and encourage them in suitable areas so that people of that area move towards that crop. The reason i am so excited about tea farms is precisely the same. The gov. is doing well to introduce this crop in the area for fields that will be best utilized planting tea farms, will be most cost efficient and will serve not only that region but the whole area very well.

Lot of work is being done in Agriculture really but still there is room for HUGE improvement.

Irrigation methods as you rightly point need immediate attention so water can be utilized properly.

As for China, i think you have confused it with something else. China boasts 10% of worlds total arable land my friend. Around 750000 Sq. Km (Whole Pakistan is 880k approximately)

Boss that all depends on price. Our market unfortunately do not pays the prices the seller/farmer gets from international market. We tend to buy Kino for 100-120Rs a dozen, sometime it goes as low as 80Rs. The export market pays up 250-300Rs a dozen. That same quality IS available in cities at stores etc but the price is on higher side and sales are lower. Same for almost every other fruit.

To be honest, i am happy that these crops get exported, seller gets slight better rates, country gets $$ and we still end up eating the worlds most tasty fruits! lolz!

By the way, what were specifically the fruits that you found to be of better quality in that foreign market? Which country if you can share please. Plus CHIA? Where you found imported Pakistani tea? That is interesting.

That is Qawa! Not the English Black Tea. Our Qawa is nice and comes from north western region.

More importantly, someone should just stop the residential colonies and industrial areas popping up on some of the best agriculture lands. I have seen hundreds of acres of land right on Canal in Faisalabad turn into residential colonies in last 7-8 years alone. Excellent fertile land going to waste. These colonies SHOULD have been planned on barren land if there was anyone with a brain sitting in our top offices!

That is Qawa! Not the English Black Tea. Our Qawa is nice and comes from north western region.

Still if you just want a short answer, YES, tea farms are being promoted in Shinkiari area (In Mansehra district) where land and weather have been found to be extremely suitable. Research institutes of not just gov. but also private multi national companies are present there and tea farms are being grown.

Hmmm, Dry fruits is new for me!
Mostly they are sold as being from Afghanistan (from what i saw in Germany at least). Kinnow and Mango is asked about all around, no doubt! Rice is also very popular.

NICE! That is great then. I will look for these next time for sure. Regarding dry fruits, as i said that is new for me, never paid enough attention to these before as i was of the view that pistachio and cashew are mostly exported from India and others are labeled as Afghan product as i saw in Germany (that is only place i happen to see them as, again, never paid attention to dry fruits) Good to know that we are selling these as Pakistani. Will look for these next time for sure,
