ISTANBUL - Daily News with wires

A group of students clashed with police as they gathered for a protest at the Middle East Technical University, or METU, in Ankara, daily Hürriyet reported on its website.

Students from METU and Hacettepe University gathered in front of METU campus gates, and said they intended to march to the ruling Justice and Development Party, or AKP's, headquarters in Ankara, daily Habertürk reported on its website.

Police barricaded the group's path and told the students they were only permitted to make a press statement.

Students hurled large stones at the police, broadcaster CNNTürk reported. Police then dispersed the group with tear gas and pressurized water when the students insisted on marching, Hürriyet reported.

So is this going to be Turkish "Tinamen square" in the eyes of western press??

Those students have the right to demonstrate, there is nothing wrong with that and even if they want to do it in front of the parliament.

It seems you do not know the difference. There was no "Western press". Tiananmen Square massacre happened and was shot in great detail. It was a genuine massacre. And you are comparing it to a clash between university students and police?

It was just a small group of pkk lovers thats all..
