Not really just pragmatism. After all, it's no surprise that Jordan is one of the most stable, peaceful and forward looking country in the region, which is an achievement by itself especially in a region full of instability, civil wars, sectarianism etc despite bordering or being close to most of these countries, Kordan has manage to be a stable moderate and open country with help from the U.K and U S. For example In the 1950s the UK committed troops to the king after an army coup in Iraq threatened Jordan's security. It contributed military help again, in the 1970s, after Syria entered the north of the country in support of the Palestine Liberation Organisation, even to today Britain and the U. S are still helping the country to deal with any spill over effects from the bloody Syrian civil war and Islamic radicals trying to destabilise the country a la Islamic revolution or caliphate.
So I don't see why Jordan shouldn't maintain its close historic alliance with Britain (and the U. S) since it has served the country's interests well so far. Win-win.. Why Change a winning/beneficial formula ? As they say in French :on ne change pas une équipe qui gagne.
I was just trolling because of the fact they have english generals as leaders..
peaceful and forward looking country in the region
its mostly peaceful because of interest of western countries as you have already written .. specially england.. the puppet regime there is remote controlled.. and I guess this both pillars of stability make 80% of all security concerns..
