LAHORE: A three-member Turkish police delegation that arrived in the city on Tuesday, met with Punjab Inspector General Police Khan Baig at the city police office on Wednesday.

The delegation will train Punjab policemen in counter-terrorism and security measures.

The delegation is part of a programme for mutual cooperation between the Punjab and Turkish governments. A formal agreement in this regard will be signed in September this year.

The delegation comprises a senior deputy inspector general and superintendent officials. They have been given four rooms at the CPO and duty staff transferred from the police department. A working plan for the delegation was finalised at the meeting.

A senior police officer at the IGP told The Express Tribune that the families of the Turkish officials had arrived with them and arrangements for their residence and security had been completed. They will be looked after by the Police and Home Departments.

The IGP has also constituted a four-member committee comprising Additional Police Inspector General Muhammad Amlaish, Operations DIG Farooq Mazhar, Admin and Security AIG Sajjad Hasan Manjh and Traffic Headquarters Senior Superintendent Tariq Abbas Qureshi to assist the delegation. They will help the delegation in their operations and formulate security and counter-terrorism strategies. Admin AIG Sajjad hassan Manjh has been appointed the focal person for the Turkish police delegation and the Home Department.

The Turkish police officials will study the working procedures of the Punjab police, starting with complaint filing and investigation procedure, a senior police official at the IG office told The Express Tribune. He said that they would be provided logistic support.

The delegation will observe policing patterns across the Punjab and devise a strategy to fight terrorism in the province. They will also help improve the Punjab police’s capacity. The delegation has been tasked with preparing a plan for counter-terrorism within a year. They will visit Police Training Centres across the province and train Punjab Police officers and personnel

“Their residences and names are being kept confidential by the Police Department for security reasons,” IGP DPR Nabeela Ghazanfar said

Norway is also helping train Pakistani police, not sure what they can offer not like they have much experience with crime.

Whatever it takes to beat the terroristic Taliban is fine by me. We need to defeat the Taliban and whatever it takes is fine with me. I am glad that atleast today there has been no terror attack but the Taliban still are a major threat. We need to go after Hakimullah Mehsud and either arrest or eliminate him.

The Taliban are the most brutal and evil enemy Pakistan has ever faced internally. They are worse even than the Mukti Bahini. We need to destroy them utterly.

Pakistan security forces have enough experience in dealing with terrorism then all of these training countries though what they need is enforcement of there infrastructure like sophisticated transport means, communication network, high tech weapons and so on and above all strong will to crush this menace from there soil

...Norway training on anti-terrorism..... ???

...Well, somebody wanted a tour to Norway..

Nikumi Police! completely opposite to Pak Jawans.

Again they should re-establish police academy and train under Pakistan Army, every police wala should go through Army training [general training and special police training].

If the threat of militant wings in Sindh, anarchy in Balochistan and terrorism in KPK wasn't so high, i guess this wouldn't have been limited to just one province.

there is much corruption and political factors due to which many cowards and political workers and criminals are now in police.
Pak police just needed to clean up these fuc**ng cowards and need independancy and relief from political pressure and MNA cota then we can see atleast 40% more accuracy and improvements even with those 1970s weapons.

then ask the government of Sindh,Balochistan and KPK to invite foreigners to train and work with their police rather than having a bu*t attack……
Police is an internal matter of a province.
what can other province do if one province don't care about its police……:pissed:

:woot: WTF? Even these basic SOPs would be taught to the Punjab Police? They don't know? :undecided: :omghaha:

What kinda police force is this? And what were they doing thus far?????? :taz:

I guess thats what it boils down to,whether we care about the police and law enforcement or not.

I take it that your overwhelming urge to troll had taken over before you had the chance to take a closer look.

it says that they will STUDY THE WORKING PROCEDURES, not draft one up.
Times have changed, and with the increase in the frequency of charges that relate to terrorism and violence, these things need an overhaul too.

Turkey has alot of experience in dealing with this scenario,if we take a look at how they handled PKK.

Good... I don't know the third guy but. One is the Deputy chief of General Directorate of Security's Division of Counter-Terrorism, the other's an expert from the Division of Spec. Ops. from the General HQ.

This visit is to realise the capabilities of Punjab police. When they return to Ankara, they will generate a special training program for Punjab police to be conducted inside Turkish soils :)
