its from the news stated by officials from SSM , first welding of burgazada held in 2013 in launching of 2nd ship of milgem, and there is no launching ceremony yet , i dont know why but there isnt a lot of news about those 2 ships but i know they are being built.

As Erdogan also mentioned it last time that it is under construction..

IDK if he is talking about fuel tank or MBT by saying 'Tank' but i'm sure it can carry MBTs when it's need...

I think he is just mentioning about the ship as " it can carry tanks" but i dont think they designed in a way to carry MBTs otherwise it wouldnt have price of 7 million . LST is also similar to ro-ro but with more sophisticated structure of decks.

Think an example, as a commercial freighter(not tailor made ones like huge antonov) plane can carry armored vehicles in theory ,while you cant risk it.

One more point; Design of deck supports/design varies according to whether the vehicles are tracked,or wheeled.

Ro-Ro refers to roll-on, roll-off you can put anything with rolling (wheels) parts as long as it has similar wheigh distribution over wheels, and similar or less pressure levels. But you cant match weight distribution of a tracked vehicles over 5 ton,to a truck's wheel configuration

Hey guys, according to this link it says Turkish Mil gems has been cancelled. Can someone please verify. Thank you

It's not like that.

In September 2013, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that the MİLGEM project is to be temporarily put on hold after the completion of the first two corvettes by the Istanbul Naval Shipyard; and that the bid won by RMK Marine to build six more corvettes was cancelled.

3th and 4th corvettes will be again build by Istanbul Naval Shipyard. For the remaining 4 ship, there will be another tender.

IDEF 2015: GE Marine Signs contract with STM for Turkish Navy MILGEM class Corvettes Gas Turbine

GE Marine announced during IDEF 2015 (the International Defence Industry Fair currently held in Istanbul, Turkey) it has signed a contract with local shipyard STM for the delivery of LM2500 gas turbines. The engines will power the Turkish Navy’s third and fourth MILGEM multi-purpose corvettes.

STM is the program manager for these new two ships, and will provide platform systems, construction materials, design services and the main propulsion systems, as well as integration of the propulsion system. In addition to the services provided to the Turkish Navy, STM has export responsibility of the MILGEM corvettes with the endorsement of the country’s Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (Savunma Sanayii Müstesarligi or SSM). In accordance with export targets, STM is expected to have further collaboration opportunities with GE Marine.

The propulsion system for the two new MILGEM ships will be the same as sisters TCG Heybeliada (F-511) and TCG Büyükada (F-512), consisting of a LM2500 gas turbine in a combined diesel and gas turbine configuration with two diesel engines. Total propulsion power is 31,000 kilowatts, allowing the ships to reach maximum speed in excess of 29 knots. The corvettes have an overall length of 99 meters with a displacement of 2,300 tons.

The initial two MILGEM corvettes entered naval service in September 2011 and September 2013, respectively. Additionally 24 LM2500s operate aboard the Turkish Navy’s Barbaros- and Gabya-class frigates. Worldwide, the LM2500 gas turbine is used by 32 international navies and in countless industrial applications.

Nothing happened to that , as i know he is still going on to project , had talked with DzKK and SSM about it and he found some funds . They detailed design (lets not forget he is working with a team, not stand alone project) and this or next year they may begin to production and tests.

Its not a military submarine, it is a civilian submarine built with commercial rules and regulations. Just he claims in further plans with extra effor a military purposed one can be designed over that
