Turkish indigenous F-16V upgrade kits

F-16 Block 30 fighter are being used as a test-bed for aircraft subsystem developments/upgrades. The name of upgrade program is "Özgür" - "Independent". The project aims to develop a mission computer, later integrate developed sensors and other components into library to announce a total independence on a USA designed aircraft.

F-16 AESA radar will be operational by 2020.
Electronic Warfare Pod called "FAN16EH" will be operational by 2019.
Two Air to Air Missile project will be operational by 2019.

This will be a significant step forward when completed. Although may not be at par with the V-Upgrade, but the "Özgür Program" will give a platform that would be without any strings attached and can be further upgraded down the road as per requirement based on the availability of further improved components.

Good as this development is, by the time these improvements are available for Pakistan and implemented ... how would these upgrades stack up the Özgür-Viper against the threats that the PAF will be facing from its adversary by that time? Another thing that has to be kept in mind is that many of the PAF Viper's will be facing phase-out post 2030. The time frame when these improvements are available and incorporated on to our Vipers vs the remaining life of the most of the fleet ... is also important.

Also as an after thought ... if these components are found to be offering good performance and decent radar ranges then an option could arise for equipping later blocks of the JF-17s with these components ... albeit with modifications..

I think this info will relieve many friends in this forum about the future of both F16 and TFX....

Sir for F-16s, yes permission in needed to bring in any changes but what I have seen that as Turkey is considering engaging BAE for TFX, then US might not have that much of influence on it as compared to F-16s, except those components/assemblies/system on TFX which are property of US.

If US allowed PAF F-16s to carry Turkish avionics then I am sure PAF will do it ASAP! As then PAF can save a lot of money and save themselves from bureaucratic pressure!

As Avionics are the core part of the any flying machine. Airframe and Engine spares are not a big issue...

Thats why MLU of majority of PAF F-16s was mainly carried out in Turkey at TAI.

Turkish best universities are specifically strong in electromagnetics

And Sir not to forget Cryptography.

For new model F16s we need permission of USA for upgrades.We use our domestics products and monutions like hgk only for modernised F4s and block30 F16s.
We can have domestic radar,mission computers,guided bombs,missiles etc but we cant put it to new F16s without US permission.Thats why we need TFX.

pak f16s turkey is upgrading r old 1s block 30 or older so turkey can install domestic radar,mission computers,guided bombs,missiles etc on them cant they??

Can someone enlighten on this topic that TAI is making its own indigenous F16V upgrade kits? ?? If comes to Fruitation then wouldnt those kits be considered by PAF on all of F16s and uncle sam wouldnt create a big problem when turkey will help us in this case as happened during MLU upgrade?

it is still under development...why woulf it be said now....radar will be ready by 2020 which will also be used on tfx and other avionics before 2020

I think PAF might be interested in upgrading the recently acquired and may be 45 more F-16s which they might acquire from Jordan will go F-16 V-upgrade program.

I think it will allow as now Pakistan has it's power prevailing in the world military and politics.

yes but going on upgrades when radar ,missiles,EW pods are ready is fisible

No harm in trying out the solution with Jordanian F16 , purchase the last batch from them and try the Turkish upgrade package.

Radars and other stuff all can be replicated or made
