Turkish Engine Programs

bu adamin bu kadar ortada olmasi normal degil. iyi ki sahsi hesabindan atmis yoksa baslayacaktim.

He is just a manager, even if for his position public appearance is not much danger.
Managers can be replaceable, but we need concrete development program which does not depends on the persons.

We seem to have quite a few engine programs :).

I know we want to build the best engine possible with our national capabilities. But I was wondering if we're prioritizing an engine for a specific vessel of a certain size/tonnage.

I kinda hope we'll develop a FAC engine 500-900 tonnage first, as I imagine the this poses a lesser challenge compared to an engine that will power our Corvettes, Frigates and Destroyers.

Article mentions that creating a domestic engine was a dream in the past, and the people involved in it hope that those dreams become realities in the following generations.

Article is unfortunately in turkish.
History of Turkish arms development in diesel engine in 1940's until government squashed it. '

It's important to point out that during WW2 Turkey's politicians did their best to prove to the warring nations that Turkey was not in any way capable of joining, and doing anything for any part, thus we were able to stay out of WW2 until the end.

I wonder why they didn't develop an engine to use on fishing boats, even in secret.

Also, Germany did not allow Turkey to export ships with german engine to Azerbaijan, but israel who also uses the same german equipment were allowed to export to Azerbaijan.

We really need a national navy vessel engine be it FAC, patrol vessel or whatever.

I am watching küresel savasci, and noted that we've upgraded the Burak class corvettes 1.325 tonnage, which are quite old. But I was more curious to see the engine used was french SEMT Pielstick.

Pielstick was sold to MAN in 2006, and I was kinda wondering whether we've (TR) bid on it as well. It would have been a very good business deal IMO, and for other things.

I am fairly certain the French goverment would have stopped such an acquisition from taking place. It always happens in Western countries, when sensitive information and technology is at stake they tend to actively intervence in such matters.

The deal was also at a point where we were still taking babysteps in our defence industry so purchasing assets in such a company would probably have been considered an overkill, though no doubt it would have given as technology and informatie well worth the price.

All Turkish Engine Projects. I didn't copy/paste here due to it is Turkish.

Mostly based on defence.pk, SSB Catalogs, and other open information.

Link'de "UTKU Projesi / 1000bg Güç Grubu - BMC Power" altinda bu motor 68 ayda prototipi uretlilecek diye yazmissin. Bu bir yazim hatasi olmasin? 68 ayda prototip biraz uzun geldi bana.
