Maybe we are not as strong as we think we are..?
Thinking that an outpost 30km away from our soil might be defenseless under an attack of a terrorist organization.... is IMO just weird a lil bit...
We should have been able to protect that area very easily... I am not even gonna start with the tanks we used in the operation..
No we are not. Go ahead and start I don't mind, so are the others.
1- 39 M-60A3 TTS tanks with some 50-60 Cobra IFV, ACV-300 APCs with anti-tank missiles are used.
2- E-7T AEW&C, Heron UAVs were used actively.
3- The mission was carried out jointly by both ÖKK operators and Land Forces Infantry units.
4- F-16s were on standby in the air with air-to-air and air-to-ground munitions.
5- AH-1Ws were armed and designated as QRF, which means they were ready for takeoff within 5 minutes.
6- In case something had gone wrong, they had the entire Towed and Rocket artillery along the border on their hand. Simply, you could blow up everything within that area. Be it ISIS, PKK, PYD, Assad, FSA, Peshmerga or whatever.
7- Various small task forces from the Special Forces Command were placed at the border as support teams.
Now tell me what was wrong?
Noone likes to blame the military for that but it's obvious. This army once had stormed a Chinese Palace with 40 men. This army once has beaten an enemy far superior than her size; Battle of Plevne, I/II. İnönü.
This was nothing but a tactical retreat, decided by the government that couldn't risk to lose votes at August Elections in case the TSK was engaged in a conflict in Iraq or Syria.
