Turkey’s flagship carrier, Turkish Airlines, has announced plans to begin operating flights to Bogota and Panama City beginning May 4.

The inclusion of the two new destinations will bring to 14 the number of destinations Turkish Airlines services in North and South America, with another route to Atlanta expected to be launched later, the company said in a statement on Feb. 26, according to Anadolu Agency.

The Istanbul departures will run three times per week.

Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines is a four-star airline with a fleet of 289 (passenger and cargo) aircraft flying to 277 destinations worldwide, 229 international and 48 domestic, according to the company’s website.

The success of Turkish Airlines has recently become a case study at Harvard Business School (HBS), one of the world’s most prestigious institutions.

The case study called “Turkish Airlines: Widen Your World” explored the company’s transformation from a regional actor to a global powerhouse in the international aviation industry and discussed its fast and profitable growth in the sector.

I posted this thread as a lesson for PIA. Turkish Airlines is a success story having transformed from regional to international. While PIA has shrunk from international to regional and now probably domestic.

If the intention is honest, PIA can be a force again.

But I tell you what. Please dont expect any miracle from Sharif govt other than handing over national assets to cronies. They cant think beyond privtization and construction projects. They were ironically doing the same back in early 90s. Its our misfortune we are stuck with such rulers stuck in past with no vision for future except for enriching their families.

PIA is unable to run cheap domestic flights and you are giving her lessons on international flights.

It is not easy to become like thy because turkey's location in the world gives them very big advantage not only for regional transportation also for global tranportation. We dont have to forget Turkey has a huge tourism sector and every year over 20 million people visit Turkey( may be dicrease this year)This gives source to THY to become a global actor. Also goverment helps them a lot.Now they will have the biggest airport in Europe and the second or the third in the world.(total value was 60-80 billion in 20-25 years if I am not wrong)
I want to give an example for you how it makes comfortable our life.My friend bought a ticket from Thy Antalya to Istanbul only for 25 liras (8 dollars) two months earlier before the flight. If he use a bus he will buy ticket for 60 liras(20 dollars). You may think he cant be go 2 months later but it is not important.25 liras is soo cheap that you cant be worry about. It is very logical for us to go and turn back only for weekend to Istanbul or other cities.
But price increases in a period of time and when you want to buy ticket in a short time before the flight you pay the real price. This is a win-win solution.
