Firtina howitzers are the backbone of any operations Turkish Army achieves inside/outside borders so The TLF personal appraises the strategic advantages of those howitzers. The Firtina crew loves those machines.

Now, Aselsan has upgraded many critical systems/devices to make them more lethal and precious on field.

First phase qualification firing trials of Firtina NG completed. The new advantages of Firtina-BG over Firtina howitzers are like following;

-New generation fire control system, more precision strike on longer ranges !
-Turret and Gun driving system:Fully electric, servo controlled
-New generation devices/Systems/Designs
-Sarp RCWS
-Munition loading mechanism redesigned to be fully automatic from magazine to gun entry, increased firing rate per minute/reduced loading time.

I have to, 'cause I don't have a good memory. I vaguely remembered that K9 was introduced to Turkey so I googled it.

I don't understand why HIT is not interested in this system especially when the Army is reshifting focus on conventional land warfare. If we can produce these guns under licence, they'd become a powerful deterrent.

I think by doing it fully authomatic, they might use it rometely controlled in the future against big enemies...

The self sufficient policy impose Turkish industry to develop all strategic parts that is restricted by foreign suppliers based on their politic positions. Turkey agreed to supply Firtina howitzers for Azerbaijan but Germany blocked the MTU engines to be supplied for Azerbaijan so National engine/powerpack family projects from 400hp to 1500hp are commenced to power up national designed complete systems.

They retain all "intellectual" rights on it, therefore it's export...Only problem is not SK, but Germany, since Firtina Engine is German...

Better option would be to either develop a 155mm or license produce it.. and mate it to an AK Chasis.

Actually, It is a misunderstanding. Firtina is designed/developed by Turkey but based on K-9 and Fatih howitzer program (Fatih based on M-52) in many aspects. Fatih howitzer project was developed before It was agreed to develop more advanced variant 155mm 52cal. howitzer called Firtina so turret section have lots of similarities with Fatih, While some other sections with K-9.

I think the key in this type is the ammunition package or other upgraded ones that Turkey offers; which is actually able to be applied to all Turkish defence solutions... not foreign engines, barrels etc.
