Turkey sees itself as a mix of Europe and the Middle East and Asia. I don't think these things matter anymore since all countries are becoming more and more similar; local cultures are being replaced by western culture and capitalism and consumerism. Unfortunately.

Regardless, I know for a fact that all these 'ethnic problems' in various countries are used by the West for political, strategic and economic gains.

Well said.

Nobel prize is such a joke now... They awarded it to Obama last year... It seems the more war mongering you do the more "peace" prizes you win... This was a time when Obama escalated drone attacks on Pakistan and sent more troops to Afghanistan instead of ending the non sensical war!!!

Whats next... Peace prize in retrospect for Hitler? How about George Bush?

I agree with you bro. I had hope that Turkiye will not attend. I am disappointed......

I don't think it will set back relations. As long as Erdogan doesn't go overboard with anything. I don't think us attending was in anyway a poke at China specifically.

It's fine, I can understand why Turkey would attend whatever its opinions about the Peace award. It will have the Europeans breathing down its neck and fanning islamophobia if it doesn't.

I don't agree with this decision, but on the other hand, China supported illegal western sanctions against Iran, which was a disappointment for me. I think the Chinese government should be more consistent with their policies against global western hegemony.

Erodgan please remember that China is responsible for watering down the final version of sanctions brought against Iran.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad asked if Tehran was upset by China's vote, he highlighted the strength of ties with a country that buys millions of barrels of Iranian crude each year, had opposed new restrictions for months and together with Russia watered down the package voted on.

"There is no reason to control or weaken the relationship (with China). The main problem is the United States," he told a news conference after visiting the city's flagship World Expo.

"The U.S. administration is abusing power in the (U.N.) Security Council in order to impose its hegemony on other nations," the president said, speaking through a translator.
