Turkey rebuffs China on Nobel rites boycott

I have never said that, in fact I have always said that Democracy suits India well, considering the vast ethnic/cultural diversity that exists there.

Actually I don't mind you criticizing the democracy in India as well. Democracy in India is indeed flawed in many ways, and anyway, it's just an open forum.

Just didn't like the holier than thou attitude and thought of putting a rebuke.

Long story. Basically he has been trying to overturn the Chinese government (the charge is subversion of the state), and argues that "China should be colonized by the West for 300 years".

You can read more yourself: Liu Xiaobo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Is he booked for saying the bold part? Just curious.

@Indian members. Where does it mention anything about India in the article i posted ? Stop going off topic here. Has nothing to do with India.

I have traditionally tried to avoid country-bashing as much as possible.

You're right, constructive criticism is fine, but on this forum I have never really seen rival nationalities provide constructive criticism.

No not for the bold part. He was charged for trying to overturn our Government, his argument for China being colonized by the West for 300 years was just his follow-up idea.

To get back on topic, what do you think of Sino-Turkish relations in the light of this event, and considering past relations too?

This is when India's been dragged. Anyway, let's not go offtopic anymore.

I'm fine with whatever decision countries invited decide to make but I am tired of Indians saying they better how things should be handled for China.

And you put demand into quotation marks like that is was what actually said. Where in this article did it say China demanded.

Why are Indians even suggesting something to Chinese here when obviously they don't want us to comment. Leave them alone. Let them figure out what this means to their country.

Exactly. It doesn't even remotely concerns India. We Indians are becoming over zealous day by day. Why are Indians start commenting when discussion among Chinese hasn't even started. Let the discussion move on.

I don't think it will set back relations. As long as Erdogan doesn't go overboard with anything. I don't think us attending was in anyway a poke at China specifically.

They just need to poke their noses every where brother, never mind.

I mostly agree with your analysis here.

I don't agree with this decision, but on the other hand, China supported illegal western sanctions against Iran, which was a disappointment for me. I think the Chinese government should be more consistent with their policies against global western hegemony.

I was also quite disappointed by Erdogan when he labeled the Uyghur riots as genocide. Especially since the vast majority of the 200 deaths were Han Chinese.

Disappointment all around in this bilateral relationship I suppose.

I should admit that I don't know much about the real situation in 'Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region'. I'm going to try and learn the facts from multiple sources. Erdogan's remarks weren't very wise, I think. Especially given the treatment of Kurds in Turkey for decades.

Regardless, I know for a fact that all these 'ethnic problems' in various countries are used by the West for political, strategic and economic gains.
