Turkey's government is ready to consider the supply of necessary military equipment for Ukraine,Ukrainian MP Mustafa Dzhemilev said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

"Frankly speaking, three days ago I personally delivered the letter from the Ministry of National Defence of Turkey to the Ukrainian Minister of Defence [Stepan Poltorak], in which it stated Turkey is willing to consider the supply of necessary equipment, although it did not specify the exact type. The military delegation of Turkey is expected to arrive in Ukraine soon," Mustafa Dzhemilev said.

Dzhemilev said that Turkey is not obliged to agree with NATO in order to supply weapons made in Turkey.

"The Alliance should approve the supply of weapon, which is located within the NATO states. Although, when it comes to the weapon that is made directly by Turkey, it is the country's personal decision whether to supply weapons or not," said the MP.

Recently the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin called for negotiations on de-occupation of Crimea in the Geneva Plus format with the participation of Turkey and international organizations.

On February 13, during the meeting of the Normandy Quartet, Ukraine's Foreign Affairs Minister is expected to raise the issue of de-occupation of Crimea.

On February 4, the European Parliament adopted another resolution on Crimea. It urged Russia to start a dialogue with Ukraine and praised the steps of the Ukrainian side prior to the talks. In the document, the European Parliament calls on the Council to keep the sanctions against Russia until the end of the occupation of Crimea and its return to Ukraine.

Ukraine's major state-owned military hardware manufacturer Ukroboronprom has decided to use NATO-type Deutz engines to replace standard Russian-made engine.

The German Company Deutz AG will supply Ukraine with engines to upgrade the local-made BTR-4 8x8 armoured vehicle personnel carrier. According Ukrainian newspaper website, Ukroboronprom (State Company of Ukrainian Defense Industry) as signed a contract with Deutz AG for the supply of these engines.

The new engines will be also installed on BTR-3 and 'Dozor-B' wheeled armored vehicles.

Ukraine manufactures alot of weapons, I know alot were in the regions currently contested but im sure they have lots of other facilities throughout the country, they made lots of the weapons for the soviets and still have the factories.

But they probably need to untangle many of those from reliance on components from Russia (as many systems were co-developed and co-produced). E.g. mt-lb, T-80 etc

I don't recall hailing Ukraine as the best place in the world. So there is no need for such a knee-jerk reaction.

Assuming BTR-4 still used some Russian made components, Ukraine can't buy and use or export the armored vehicle if it can no longer import those components from Russia. It may be expensive and/or time consuming to develop domestic alternatives. To the extent domestic alternative are/were available, it may also be that an Ukrainian firm that could potentially supply replacement components is currently hampered by 'military activity'. So, from that point of view it makes much sense to replace those components with components from another source, even if outside of Ukraine. And if it so happens that that other source can actually provide better components, then so much the better.

I think Ukraine has quite lot on its own defense industry even Jet engines probably they just need to put some input in their defence industry.
