Turkey hopes to sign a major defense export deal with Saudi Arabia, Turkey's defense minister said on Wednesday, describing the potential deal as one of Turkey's biggest defense deals. Turkey hopes to reach an agreement soon, Ishiq said at a conference of defense and aviation companies in Ankara. He gave no further details.

IMO, the 40-nation coalition should put their resources together to come up with some standardized weapons systems. They can share R&D, productions etc....

Caliphate is over...
Today everyone try to make by his own and if he can't then he use $ to get it... no one will Share his knowledge just for the sake of Unity.

. . . . .
Is any ToT included or domestic production? If not, what is the point exactly when we can buy the best weapons that money can buy from almost everyone?

I hope so at least if this news is genuine.

Turkey provided local production of military electronics and EW/CEM with ToT to KSA, there are many projects going on and some in the pipeline.. Some are mega projects in the weapons industry of KSA in different JVs with Turkey..One of them will have 6000 plants/production units for all sorts of weapons, spare parts and so on..
No one can offer as much ToT to KSA in the weapons industry as Turkey .. and with a NATO standard on top of it..

Well, hopefully you will be right bro. I have heard about those rumors/plans but unless I see this actually happening I will remain a bit skeptical knowing the history of this region.

Don't forget partners such as China, Ukraine and a few others but I do agree that they could become an important partner in this important and crucial process.

The POINT my friend is that although you can obtain the best weapons that money can buy, you buy them from trash that hate you to your core (for being muslim and arab) whether it be Americans or Europeans.

By buying from Turkey, you will buy from a Muslim state, who can then use the money to improve its product and make it EVEN stronger and who in your hour of need won't stop the supply of the weapons or parts or support because they hate you like the yanks

If you were as smart as you were rich
You would take your 80 billion budget and have a thriving indigenous weapons industry OR invest in the weapons of friendly muslim States so they can improve their weapons so the entire muslim world has options in the future

Think about it!

I sympathise with your concerns, the fact is that some JVs with Turkey have already realised concrete products, made in KSA..all the other projects are big to mega ones so it will take time to see fruits coming out of them, What is nice about it all is that it is all being implemented, feasibility studies have been conducted on many of them and work have started on many of them, so, again it is question of the time it takes to finalise the projects.. I did not forget the other partners at all , they are very important indeed, China, Ukraine and South Korea in Particular, the difference though, and I have pointed it out, is that Turkey's ToT comes with NATO standard which facilitate the integration into the existing KSA's systems..

The average American and European has no importance when it comes to politics defined by elites. The 4 million or so Arab-Americans (largest non-European ethnic group in the US along with Chinese-Americans, Indian-Americans and Filipino-Americans excluding the African-Americans) and the 15 million big Arab-European community have few complains overall. I and my family certainly have never faced any trouble either in Europe or the US.
Also KSA/GCC has excellent ties with the West who has been instrumental in our education sector, infrastructure, support for the military and giving MILLIONS of our youth the chance to study at leading universities in the world since the 1960's. Nor prevented the same West from being the largest trading partner of KSA/GCC.

Iran is a Muslim majority country too but they are doing 1000 times more harm to the Arab world than Christian Orthodox Ukraine for instance.

You think that Turkey and Turks care about KSA or Arabs or that they will come to our aid when/should we be in trouble? Since when? Also when has the US/West prevented weapons sale/support when we most needed it? The US for instance is a crucial partner in the current war in Yemen. Much more important/crucial than Turkey.

There is no 80 billion budget to begin with and I suggest that you read about the Saudi Vision 2030 and its goals in terms of the domestic military industry.

The questions that I raised are legitimate. Playing the "Muslim-card" is useless in such discussions.

Also you are forgetting that the same Turkey is very much part of the Western Axis/NATO. So you are talking about them like they were an independent Muslim power that had nothing to do with the same West that you mistrust/criticize yet live in yourself.

That's a good point and observation. I for once hope that this relationship will be mutually beneficial and reach new heights. However I will remain a bit skeptical of any groundbreaking cooperation unless it actually happens.

To be honest one of the most annoying things is that we are including non-Muslim majority sub-saharan hell-holes into this alliance. They are completely and utterly useless.

Instead of attempting to include these countries we should try to include central asian/European(Bosnia,Albania,Kosovo) muslim countries who would be way more valuable.

Also does anyone know why Iraq isn't joining?
