Turkey arrests two journalists on terrorism charges: CNN Turk
ISTANBUL
Two prominent Turkish journalists were arrested on Thursday on charges of assisting terrorists, CNN Turk said, after they published footage that purported to show the state intelligence agency helping send weapons to Syria.

A Turkish court ordered the arrest of the editor-in-chief of Cumhuriyet, Can Dundar, and the newspaper's Ankara correspondent, Erdem Gul, the television channel said.

Turkish media reports said that the two faced a number of charges including membership of an armed terrorist organization and the publishing of material in violation of state security following the release of the footage in May.

Reuters was not immediately able to verify the reports.

The video, purporting to show Turkish police opening crates of weapons and ammunition bound for Syria on the back of state security agency trucks, prompted President Tayyip Erdogan to vow revenge, saying he would not forgive such reporting.

European diplomats are measured in their criticism of media freedom in Turkey and Erdogan's increasingly authoritarian rule, recognizing the West needs Ankara's help on the migrant crisis and as an ally in the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State.

Europe is hoping to finalize a deal with Ankara - a NATO member and a candidate for EU membership - on the refugee crisis at a summit this weekend.

What did israel to its own citizen who revealed Israeli nuke program ? Didn't Israeli arrested and put him in jail for many years ? And may be today is still in jail.. I'm not sure if he is still in jail or not.

Finally if Israelis perceived that their security was threatened by his revelations, they took the right decision.

Same with Turcs... They perceived it as a threat to their safety, they took the right decision.

That's the deceit I talked about you on another thread...

You're claiming apples (sworn-to-secrecy employee Vanunu) and oranges (journalists committed to informing the public) are the same fruit and that any claim otherwise is deceit.

Thank you for this clarification of your linguistic standards. It's now quite clear where the "deceit" is.

Apple or oranges, what is the difference ? They are both fruits

It is an example of deceit, not the only deceit...
What you do is right, and what others do is wrong.

You also know what Israel did in Lebanon in order to instigate civil war between different factions there in the 70's... You did it because you perceived a threat for your security and you didn't like an Arab country could be a heaven, on the path of development. You destroyed it secretly by using deceit. An Israeli officer of mossad, a retired one, said it himself on French radio shalom which broadcasted the news from Jerusalem in the first day of the first gulf war.... Unfortunately I didn't recorded it...

Deceit Is used by everyone for his own agenda... When it suit your interest you accept to put someone in jail... And when it doesn't suit your interest you don't accept that other country could put someone in jail...
Apple or orange, when it doesn't suite you... It's always wrong.

He wasn't a journalist, he was an employee who was sworn to secrecy... u can't break a contract without expecting consequences.

Turkey is playing the most dastardly role here. They should think twice.

Pakistanis were always cocky about their double games, they have paid in blood, with compound interest.

lol.........I think you've misunderstood the definition of peace !
Peaceful countries don't go about supporting and assisting an organisation like ISIS and shoot down a Russian jet without warnings and its PM doesn't makes irresponsible statements .

*we dont support isis but FSA
*russian jet warned repeatedly
*which statement exactly?

And if someone should try to expose state secret in some other country ( for ex. USA ) you shouln't have seen such news on TV like arresting, questioning, court etc. 'cos they would be probably found dead or the body can't be found even.

Don't take seriously people who sais you support ISIS, they're basing their opinions on propaganda without any proof.

It's all propaganda, don't worry Turkish, take it from us Pakistanis. People have been threatening to blow us up since 1947, we are still here. We have a saying in Urdu "Jis ko Allah Rakhey usko kaun Chakeh" translated: He whom Allah(SWT) chooses to protect, no force on earth can harm.
