The Director of the Turkish Defense Industry Presidency, Dr. Ismail Demir, visited Iraq with a delegation consisting of representatives of Turkish defense industry companies
Demir met with the head of the Iraqi Military Industrialization Authority, Muhammad Al-Daraji, and a team of Iraqi forces.
The meeting was attended by Director of Aselsan Haluk Gürgen, General Manager of TUSAŞ Aviation and General Manager of STM Özgür Galerez.
The Turkish defense industry companies represented at the meeting are ROKETSAN, ASELSAN, TUSAŞ, HAVELSAN, STM, FNSS Defense and MKE A.Ş. and ASFAT, Otonom Teknoloji, and Otokar.
At the end of the meeting, Muhammad al-Daraji, head of the Iraqi Military Industrialization Authority, said: We agreed to transfer technology from Turkey to Iraq. We have seen a great understanding from the Turkish side regarding the joint military industry between Iraq and Turkey. Light weapons, ammunition and aircraft tracking systems will be produced in Iraq. A joint memorandum of understanding was also signed for the production of balloons to monitor the border and terrorist operations of our forces."
And the Iraqi Defense Minister, Jumaa Inad Saadoun, had previously announced that an agreement had been reached to purchase Bayraktar TB2 planes and 12 T129 ATAK helicopters, and that they had an offer to purchase 6 electronic warfare systems from Turkey.
