Tunisia has participated since its independence on the 20th of march 1956 and from 1960 in many peace keeping operations in the world: 16 missions within the frame of appliance of the United Nations security council resolutions and 4 missions under the auspices of the African Union. Three missions are ongoing:
&MONUSCO in the Democratic Republic of Congo,
ONUCI in Ivory Coast
Mission of the African Union in Central African Republic.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
1st mission:
July 1960 - July 1961.
Participation:
A contingent of 2,200 men.
Mission:
Maintaining security in the region Kass.
2nd mission:
January 1962 - March 1963.
Participation:
A contingent of 1100 men(people).
Mission:
Assure the return of the refugees and protect camps to Elisabethville.
3rd mission ( MONUC):
Since May, 2000
Participation:
A contingent of 464 men(people) more 31 Officers Observers.
Mission:
Assure(Insure) the protection of the PC and the UN installations, the premises of the Mixed Army exemption tribunal.
Assure(Insure) the medical support of the military and civil staff of the UNO.
Protect and escort VIP.
Western Sahara (MINURSO)
September, 1991 - June, 1997.
Participation:
46 Officers Observers.
Mission:
To check(Control) stop him(it) the fire(light), the retreat(withdrawal) of the strengths of the parts(parties) in conflict and to assure(insure) the protection of the staff participating in the referendum.
CAMBODIA ( UNTAC)
June, 1992 - August, 1993.
Participation:
A contingent of 1026 servicemen.
Mission:
Protect the staff and the installations of the UNO, escort the refugees and participate in the reconstruction of the country.
SOMALIA ( ONUSOM)
December, 1992 - June, 1994.
Participation:
Participation: 280 Servicemen.
Mission:
Assure the protection of the logistic base of the multinational strength MOQADISHO and supply medical services to the civil population.
SOUTH AFRICA ( MONUAS)
February, 1994 - May, 1994.
Participation:
2 Officers Observers.
Mission:
Check the operations and the sorting of the results of vote.
RWANDA
1st mission (under the aegis of the UA):
September, 1993 - July, 1994.
Participation:
60 Servicemen.
Mission:
To check(Control) stop him(it) the fire(light) and to disarm(move) the parts(parties) in conflict.
2nd mission ( MINUAR):
Seven 1994-in December, 1995.
Participation:
A contingent of 860 servicemen
Mission:
To check(Control) stop him(it) the fire(light), to disarm(move) the parts(parties) in conflict and to facilitate the return of the refugees and the work of the humanitarian organizations.
BURUNDI
1st mission (under the aegis of the UA):
September-August, 1996.
Participation:
16 military Observers.
Mission:
To check(Control) stop him(it) the fire(light), to participate in the restoration of the confidence(trust) between the government and the people, to bring of the assistance(audience) to the refugees and to facilitate the work of the humanitarian organizations.
2nd mission under the aegis of:
UA: Fév. On 2002 - December, 2004, * UNO ( ONUB): in December, 2004 - December, 2006.
Participation:
20 military Observers.
Mission:
To check(Control) stop him(it) the fire(light), to facilitate the connection between the parts(parties) in conflict and to participate in the restoration of the confidence(trust) between the government and the people.
3rd mission (under the aegis of the UA):
February 2007- July 2010
Participation:
A military Observer and a chief military Councillor(Adviser) with the office(desk) of the UNO in Bujumbura.
Mission:
To check stop it the fire.
HAÏTI (MINUHA)
In December, 1994 - Mars 1995.
Participation:
2 Observers.
Mission:
Check the execution of the mission, inspect the UN strengths and present a report(relationship) on the mission to the UN Secretary-General.
ILES COMORES (UA)
November, 1997 - June, 1999..
Participation:
8 Observers of whom an Officer leader of the military observers.
Mission:
Command the observers and check the status as regards military service.
ALBANIE (MINUK)
April, 1999 - June, 1999.
Participation:
A medical group of 17 servicemen (doctors and male nurses).
Mission:
Supply the medical support for the refugees.
ETHIOPIE- ERYTHREE (MINUEE)
Since (current) July, 2000.
Participation:
8 Officers (6 Observers, 2 officers of Staff).
Mission:
To check(Control) stop him(it) the fire(light) and to assure(insure) the connection between the civil and military people in charge.
COTE DIVOIRE (ONUCI)
Since (current) June 20th, 2003.
Participation:
10 Officers (7 observers, 3 staff officers).
Mission:
To check stop him the fire, to facilitate the connection between the civil and military people in charge and to restore the confidence between the parts in conflict.
CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC /TCHAD (MINURCAT)
Sep 2008 December 2010
Participation:
7 liaison officers.
Mission:
Restore the necessary security conditions for the voluntary return of the refugees and the displaced persons due to the conflicts in this region.
UNITED NATIONS OFFICE IN WEST AFRICA (UNOWA)
March 2009 March 2011.
Participation:
1 Officer as military adviser.
Mission:
- Find the solutions and the take the necessary preventive measures for the border conflicts, in particular the one between Nigeria and Cameroon,
- restore the necessary security conditions de in the region.
THE AFRICAN UNION LIAISON OFFICE IN THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC
Since august 2010 (ongoing).
Participation:
1 Officer as military adviser.
Mission:
Military adviser at the African Union office.
