Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Tuesday that the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was in a state of "disarray" after Indian funding for the militant outfit had stopped.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad following a meeting of the federal cabinet, Chaudhry said: "We should be satisfied to know with regards to the TTP that for the first time the process of Indian funding [to them] — which had been going on for a long time — has ended and at this time they are in disarray."

Talking about the TTP's actions inside Pakistan, the minister said Pakistan was not a "weak country" and possessed the capability to overcome such challenges.
"These internal challenges are not a problem for us. Our [belief] is that once they stop having a funding stream from abroad then it will be a big blow for them and the rest we will handle ourselves."

He also said that the announcement by the Taliban that Afghanistan would not be allowed to be used for terrorism against any country was a very "positive" one.
"We think the Taliban authorities will act on this. [....] Pakistan's top terrorists from the BLA (Balochistan Liberation Army) and TTP are sitting in Afghanistan and we want them.

"We hope we will have cooperation from Afghanistan on this. Inside the country we will look at these matters ourselves," Chaudhry added.

His comments come a day after Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said the Afghan Taliban had reassured the government that the TTP would not be given permission to operate in Afghanistan against Pakistan.

Rashid said the government was in "full contact" with the Taliban on the issue of some TTP members such as Maulvi Faqir Mohammad being released after the takeover of Kabul.

Last week, the Foreign Office had said that Pakistan would ask the incoming government in Afghanistan to act against the TTP.

"Pakistan has been taking up the issue of the use of Afghan soil by the TTP for terrorist activities inside Pakistan with the previous Afghan government and would continue raising the issue with the incoming government in Kabul as well to ensure that the TTP is not provided any space in Afghanistan to operate against Pakistan,” the FO spokesperson had said.

'India should stay clear of Afghan interference'
Chaudhry said the cabinet meeting had also discussed the situation in Afghanistan, particularly Pakistan's "responsible role" in the formation of an Afghan government.

"We have close contact with Turkey, China and other countries [...] so on one hand we are continuing our contact with Afghan authorities and on the other, with foreign countries," he said.

He said the cabinet had also stated that "India should stay clear of interference in Afghanistan. India has no border with Afghanistan."

Dring the former Afghan government's tenure, Chaudhry said, India had used Afghanistan's land against Pakistan and "at this time too we are seeing a continuous effort visible on Indian media that the Afghan peace process is sabotaged."

The minister also provided updates about Pakistan's facilitation of evacuations from Afghanistan, saying that up till now "thousands of people" from different nationalities had been evacuated.
"Over 3,400 people have been evacuated through airplanes, [while] around 19,000 have come through the borders so Pakistan is one of the primary stakeholders in this whole process and we are trying to create this environment so that the people stranded in Kabul can be evacuated," he said.

What kind of a stupid comment is this?

As long as India keeps funding terrorism, Pakistan can't defeat it apparently.

For once I agree with you. These terrorists must be given choice or either surrender to Pakistani state with families. Or eliminate them in Afghanistan.

Pakistan must ensure deep presence in Afghanistan. Any one directly or indirectly involved in terror attacking should be eliminated.

One should understand that 300-400,000 Afghan army men who has deserted and have gone underground will be used by India as proxies to kill Pakistanis. Out of 400k US Trained commandoes many will be looking for easy money and will build their own militias to be used as mercenaries.

The State has decided passive approach,
Hear no Evil, See no Evil.
In long term it will just keep hurting Pakistan.

If someone is hurting you, until they know they will have to face consequences nothing will change and thinking just bcz they cant use Afghanistan to harm Pakistan all problems will be solved big mistake, half of Afghanistan still thinks Pakistan is enemy, Unless Pakistan takes active approach in central Asia, Afghanistan and Iran you will keep seeing regularly deaths of Pakistani citizen.

Since everyone's own skin and blood is safe who cares.
Who cares about a random pakistani peasant being killed by these scums

We have shown our weakness on too many accounts. Remember when the army chief said, we need to burry the past. The policy shift from geo strategic to geo economics. We have all but signaled weakness to india.

.
Well now India will think twice but it will always aid anti-Pakistan groups now through Iran since they have completely lost Afghanistan but now it will focus more on Kashmir-Ladakh than Kabul or Kandahar training camps the days of TTP and BLA, BRA(Sarmachars) are limited their leaders will run away but their own people will suffer so TTP is no match even the IEA has taken the complaint of Pakistan seriously so India has nothing to aid apart from little attacks that BLA or TTP will carry at times now the Kashmiri Mujahiddeen have gotten active with them carrying out attacks on Gangu forces so yeah now India will think twice before aiding such groups they already have a nightmare becoming a reality(2-Front war)

Its logical, there was never any limitation of manpower previously. Remember Doval said we will fight Pakistan till the last Afghan. They kept training, funding and arming terrorists and throwing them at us. Once this base is taken care off, what we need to do is mop up the rest. Sure it will take some time but there is light at the end of tunnel after 20 years. Thats how proxy war works.

Literally 95% of the people are hailing this policy shift...

bang on, no doubt the threat is real and without the establishment of a powerful government involving all stakeholders in Afghanistan, the same can not be mitigated or averted.

I was about to write " kutte ko Hadi na mile tu Pagal ho jata hai " but then I realize that it would be insult to Dogs to compare them to TTP.

Learn to read between the lines. You are pro democratic but still don't understand the statements that come from politicians and Government.

His comment means that the terrorist network created by India in Afghanistan is much bigger than has been anticipated by Intel agencies and media. The amount of resources used to dismantle and destroy this setup will consume time. This further means that the number of TTP/BLA terrorists trained by India is a large figure. He is highlighting Indian involvement in creating TTP and BLA against Pakistan. He has consumed all this information in a sentence by stating that curtailing Indian funding will be a major blow to TTP/BLA.

Indian funding in Afghanistan couldn't be stopped before since ISAF was sitting there and India was deploying nefarious elements under guise of civilian projects. This funding has been going on for past 20 years and Pakistan was unable to stop it before. Now the circumstances have started to change.

Supplies, supplying routes and cutting of supply is a whole topic in Military. Its a major factor in winning or losing a battle or a full fledged war.
Or eliminate them in Afghanistan.
This has happened even under ISAF's nose.

. .
Taliban has straight up said TTP does not exist in their territory, now i hope this is a clear enough statement about the Taliban's true intent.

Stop Funding will only stop future attacks. TTP already has funds for planned attacks. It’s a intelligent failure that we have not been able to do real damage to TTP. We need to be smart enough to catch them and dismantle whole group.

Our new direction is exposing india more to its soft power hurts, and playing with narrative games every time. We're doing exactly what India did before, but with a different tone and gaining time to strong ourself in economically.
