Read about the war during tirah Valley. TTP allied groups attacked and slaughtered tribal lashkars and anti ttp militia group called ansar ul Islam. They were Pakistan army allies but were abandoned. Pakistan could have used them as a buffer zone and use them to even have influence in Afghanistan with the people who may have accept taliban rule but are still a different ideology. These groups had influence in N And S waziristan too but our state allowed them to be defeated.

There was an era of peace after Raheel Sharif and one of the largest border fences had been constructed since that time.
