WASHINGTON: The Trump administration, which assumes power on Friday, has no plans to “unfriend” Pakistan but its relations with India will be even closer than those of the Obama administration, says Sajid Tarar, a prominent Pakistani supporter of President-elect Donald Trump.

Mr Tarar, who spoke at the Republican National Convention in July and prayed for Mr Trump’s victory, will also address the prayer breakfast for the new president. The ceremony will be held at Washington’s National Cathedral on Jan 21, a day after Mr Trump takes oath as the 45th president of the United States.

Former US presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama, and their wives, will be among the audience who will hear Mr Tarar recite Surah-i-Fateha for Mr Trump.

“I chose the first Surah of the holy Quran because it is the beginning of a new presidency, and I hope and pray that the next four years bring peace and prosperity to all,” Mr Tarar told Dawn.

Hillary Clinton, Mr Trump’s main opponent in the 2016 election, has confirmed that she would attend the inaugural ceremonies.

Mr Tarar said he was a “committed American and a committed Pakistani” and wanted to “do something to improve US-Pakistan relations”.

He noted that most Muslims in America, including Pakistanis, voted for Mr Trump’s rival in the election. “That’s their democratic right but they should now accept the fact that Mr Trump is the president,” said Mr Tarar, a founding member of the Muslims for Trump group.

Bring it on, Trump. We are looking forward to your hostility and meanness. We are going to enjoy your joker tweets. LOL

My personal opinion is, Trump being a bussiness may take some good decisions to improve economy but he is not a politicians and might be confused after taking so much stress of the world politics and may not pursue his foreign policy as agressive as the more seasoned politicians. He is likely to weaken America's grip on other nations and may turn out to be weak politician in the end.

In my opinion after agressive period of bold decision is over, he might start acting like a second-man of his closest aides and will just follow their advice to complete his tenure

Trump has won on pretext of turning the economy around. He is not at all interested in spending on foreign soils. As Zaki said, it is highly likely that he will fail in foreign policy. US might not be the same in coming 5 years and if he succeeds in moving the economy, he can definitely secure another 10. Majority of Americans are concerned about their own lives, not others.

Trump is a blessing in disguise. We need a joker at this moment. Someone who shakes his head and hands, wants to grab women by their genitals and says the most ridiculous things on his mind. Obama has destroyed world peace. Obama was a cunning fvck. An untrustworthy backstabber. No doubt Trump's persona is going to weaken the US standing and seriousness in the world. Trump just cannot be taken seriously. Everything he says and the way he says begs to be laughed at. Pakistan is going to get a breather with Trump. Trump is already picking fights with NATO and heaping praise on Putin. He is not even sworn into office yet. The moment Trump tries to pick a fight with Pakistan, he is going to find out the hard way that this is a lost cause.

We just need to keep them at arms length and have a reasonable trade relation with them.

Nothing else!

There can be advantages with being allied to the U.S but it can be a major headache especially if they expect something from you

Lets just keep a working relationship and let them and the indians cosy up and we should try to diversify our relations and make stronger the ones we have

With Trump coming in, one thing is for certain. Over last few decades, entire world used to focus on the words and body language of US officials to figure out what they mean but now with Trump, you never know what he will say and what he actually means LoL

Very true, but we also need to correct our own behavior. We promise them gold, but cannot deliver bronze. We cannot deliver on Afghanistan. Period. It is a mess. We can't influence the Taliban in anyway. We cannot make the Haqqani group disappear. They are there because the Pashtun majority is being marginalized in Afghanistan at the hands of the Afghan government and the Americans. Even if the Haqqani's go someone else will take its place. When the Americans ask Pakistan to do more, we need to be frank and tell them that we can't. We have become embroiled in this American war which isn't ours. Our leaders are hyenas who are only preying for money. They want money and F-16s. It is a disgrace how our leaders behave. With leaders I mean both civilian and the establishment. Not one ounce of shame. Just learn to stand on your own feet and be honest.

Problem with some of our leaders is that they aspire to go to, retire to, send their children to the U.S for work or education or just becoming rich americans.

So they don't want to tick off the yanks

I agree. This has been Pakistan's problem since day one. Not one leader or person who is loyal to Pakistan. No doubt, the beating we got in various shapes and forms can partly be attributed to our own disloyal behavior. Time has come to drastically change our behavior. We need to look them straight in the eye and tell it how it is. The Americans cannot have any expectations from Pakistan. We cannot deliver in Afghanistan. The mess in Afghanistan is largely due to American interference and mismanagement. This is the end result of neglecting and alienating the largest Pashtun ethnic group. Surely, most neighboring countries beloning to various camps have also interfered, but largely the Americans and Afghans are themselves to be blamed. Only we are to be blamed if Pakistan continues to ask for more economic and military aid in exchange for promises in Afghanistan.

Trump embodies the anger and disenchantment US people have felt over the past 8 years of rule by Obama who turned out to be a total disappointment, a looser and jerk who just carried on with the policies of G. W. Bush and fooled us. Then the democrats proposed the cunning foxy and shady character of Hilary to succeed him... Barnie Sanders was a far better person but they did not let him come forward so people took a revenge, now they have a pervert in the oval office but still they think he is better than the hypocrites and a$$holes Clintons..And I go with the decision of the average American on the street.

Now CIA already has a lot of pain in their a$$es as they are feeling the heat ahead of his assuming office and inquiring into their shady business in the middle east, Afghanistan and elsewhere.

Couldn't have agreed more. The Americans have been stuck between a rock and a hard place. Much like the people in Pakistan who always have very little choice. In hindsight, it seems that despite the rhetoric Trump is indeed a better choice compared to Hillary. I was quite wrong on this.

Mr. Trump is leaving the stage of globalization, in trade and investment, to China. What better news can there be for Pak? He has already shown his utter disdain for NATO, EU etc. I am pretty sure next in line will be UN, WB, IMF etc. Anything to do with no return on investment within a quarter will find itself within his line of fire...

His "make/made in USA" tweets are already bearing fruits. Anybody planning to milk the US taxpayers money should get ready to get smashed...

.
You can imagine the internal state of a superpower when it's public elects people like Trump. Economic Implosion had started a while back and Trump is the outcome of US policies to start wars and fight all over the world instead of strengthening the economy.

Any country's economy is in trouble when manufacturing is outsourced at large scale. The bigger you are, the harder you fall when a serious illness takes over.

.
Lets see if Trump removes the ban from pakistani companies that Obama has imposed.
