I think they will do it. International markets will use android but internal market can use our OS. By right, we should have toppled Samsung this year....no thank to trump we have to earn 30 bil$ less.

This blockade against Huawei is actually a blessing in disguise for China as a whole. It is an expensive short term lesson for Huawei but will have long term benefits for China's indigenous tech development. The Chinese government will now give greater supports for core development for Chinese companies and they in turn will rely on less American techs.

Huawei should continue to develop its OS, and deploy it when it's ready. Then end goal for Huawei's OS shouldn't be just for China's internal market but for everywhere.

Agreed. Also Trump is a good publicity man for Huawei. Because of Trump, practically everyone interested in buying smartphone are now aware of the Huawei brand and also aware that Huawei is far more advance than everyone once thought.

Also the tariff war gives Huawei an opportunity to roll out their Hongmeng/ Oak OS with full support in China market as well as positive response from the World which USA/ Japan/ Australia/ New Zealand do not belonged. Having its own OS will generate huge advertising revenue for Huawei at the expense of Google.

And Huawei now has a very good reason to build chip fabrication factory of its own in the near future, and will have ready buyers who have faltering trust on supply reliability of US suppliers due to intervention of trade by the Whitehouse. If they do build their own factory, it will be a new source of revenue, and less purchase from Qualcomm and others in years to come.

Meanwhile in short term period, US companies got much relief as they are able to avert from short falls in their projected profit and loss account. In long term, they will have to come out with strategy of moving some of their manufacturing factories to overseas and cut down the US technology content of their products to below the 25% US content stipulated under Trump's Export Ban. And to register new patents under companies outside USA.

Requests for contract renegotiation, annulment, and even outright renege in support for Huawei. It will be yrs before Huawei can convince the world that its wares, soft and hard, are as good as those from the West, but people will wait those yrs.

No one knows what the US and China did. For all we know, China made concessions and is working hard to put a good face on the issue.
