Trump threatens to slap $100 billion in additional tariffs on China

You didn't get my point. I'll try again.. My point is there is a bigger game being played here.. bigger then our stupid dispute over Kashmir, bigger then Pakistan begin friendly with china. Bigger then China doing what ever...

Look at recent so called Arab springs. They always support the opposition and supply them with weapons, cash etc. What happens at the end? The enire country gets destroyed with millions of people dead and homeless. While they sit back and enjoy the show.

This Asia game is no joke bro. We have 4 Nuclear armed countries in the region. God for bid if anything happens it will be the biggest human loss human kind has ever see .

I've just come to realize by reading history.. Every race at one point another had an Empire which spread over other countries and continents. I.e Ottoman Empire, persian, Roman, Japanese, etc list is long.
Why was there never a Indian empire? Even when we were together? Like our Country when together was ruled by a shitty little country like portugal?wtf??

My best guess is because we were busy fighting each other. And we continue to do so to this day. While allowing others to take advantage of us.

They don't like us.. As soon as they feel India is threat in any way at all. Tables will be turned and rules will be bent. I can guarantee you that.

I love your aspirational thinking and frankly much of what you have suggested if people in that region took 50% to heart, that region would flourish tremendously.

However, you have two giants in the making in that region. One which traditionally(India)is more interested in being an economic superpower, with zero interest in being an American type superpower(like you guys say- those Hindus are not aggressive by nature as a majority)- while the other (China) has always thought their righetous place in the world is being an american type superpower (economic/military). China does truly believe that's it their time in history to be the challenger and sit on top.

And the rest of your region is caught in-between it. We have chosen India to partner because of the reasons I cited. We rather deal with democracies, rights loving country. The world cannot be a China- citizens all over under the thumb of a quasi-dictatorship. It will chaotic and lead to Arab springs over and over again. That's no way for world citizens to live. That's no way for the world to exist. In our perfect world, we rather fight over trade rights, than worry about destructive military power, proliferation, horrible human rights and land grabbing. Nobody goes to war over trade. Two true democracies don't threaten each other.

China hits back after Trump threatens $100 billion in tariffs

China said on Friday it is ready to pay "any cost" in a trade war after US President Donald Trump threatened an additional $100 billion in tit-for-tat tariffs on Beijing.

"If the US side disregards opposition from China and the international community and insists on carrying out unilateralism and trade protectionism, the Chinese side will take them on until the end at any cost," the commerce ministry said in a statement on its website.

"We don't want a trade war but we aren't afraid of fighting one."

The US on Tuesday published a list of $50 billion in Chinese exports set to be hit by US tariffs because of Beijing's alleged theft of intellectual property and technology.

China retaliated on Wednesday by announcing plans to impose levies on $50 billion worth of major US exports such as soybeans, cars and small aircraft.

On Thursday, Trump responded to Beijing's countermeasures by doubling down.

"Rather than remedy its misconduct, China has chosen to harm our farmers and manufacturers," Trump said in a defiant statement.

"In light of China's unfair retaliation," Trump said he had instructed trade officials to "consider whether $100 billion of additional tariffs would be appropriate".

Trump said he was still open to talks, but only if they were aimed at achieving "free, fair, and reciprocal trade".

China on Thursday formally launched a World Trade Organization challenge against Trump's first round of proposed tariffs.

In the text released by the WTO, China's delegation requested "consultations" with Washington "concerning the proposed tariffs (and) measures that the United States accords to certain goods in various sectors including machinery, electronics, etc. originating in China".

A "request for consultations" is the first step in a full-blown legal challenge at the WTO's Dispute Settlement Body.

Beijing has also unveiled plans for painful import duties targeting politically-sensitive US exports, including soybeans, aircraft and autos.

'Dumbest possible way'
None of the tariffs have yet come into effect, but the world's two largest economies are in a game of chicken that could inflict collateral damage on the global economy.

The prospect of a trade war has sent markets around the world on a rollercoaster ride, with traders seemingly unable to decide if the threat is real or bluster.

As news spread of Trump's latest threat, stock futures trading pointed to the Dow Jones Industrial Average opening over 400 points down.

This dispute — ostensibly over Beijing's alleged theft of intellectual property and technology — is just one front in the ongoing trade tussle.

Trump has also threatened to impose steep tariffs on steel and aluminium imports, which would include China.

China responded with proposed tariffs on fresh fruit, pork and recycled aluminium, which accounted for $3 billion of US exports last year.

The United States has dominated the global economy for much of the last century, but this fight comes as China — with its population of 1.4 billion — is starting to challenge US hegemony.

And Beijing has the economic equivalent of a nuclear weapon, holding more than one trillion dollars' worth of US debt.

Offloading just a portion of that debt could spook bond markets and send America's cost of borrowing soaring.

Trump repeatedly said during his election campaign that he would get tough with Beijing, but Thursday's announcement was greeted with barely concealed horror in some circles, even among his own Republican Party.

"Hopefully the President is just blowing off steam again but, if he's even half-serious, this is nuts," said Republican Senator Ben Sasse.

"China is guilty of many things, but the President has no actual plan to win right now. He's threatening to light American agriculture on fire."

"Let's absolutely take on Chinese bad behavior, but with a plan that punishes them instead of us. This is the dumbest possible way to do this

This is not an iron poker face in my book.

Moreover, a poker face doesn't earn you anything in the first place in this situation. We are talking here about the two biggest economies in the world moving to commence economic war on each other on the whim of not solid strategic thinking and policy but simply conservative base voter appeasement (to off-set failed campaign promises like a border wall in the South, deporting the DACA recipients etc).

The results on the world economy will not be inconsequential. In trade wars, everybody loses.

I can't see flags on mobile but im guessing you have two American flags going. I'm damn sure you have a Indian back ground.

Let's just hope it's a cold war with China. But if it gets physical you must know India will be up against 3 nuclear armed countries if not 4. Chinese side =Pakistan, North Korea, China, Maybe even Russia. Lots and lots of innocent lives will be lost.

China will not negotiate with USA outside WTO.

I wish China to win this war! It is time to teach arrogant and uncultured US of A a lesson!

China’s president offers US possible trade concessions

BEIJING (AP) — President Xi Jinping promised Tuesday to cut China’s auto tariffs and improve intellectual property protection in possible concessions aimed at defusing a worsening dispute with Washington over trade and technology that investors worry could set back the global economic recovery.

Speaking at a business conference, Xi made no direct mention of his American counterpart, Donald Trump, or the dispute. He promised progress on areas that are U.S. priorities including opening China’s banking industry and boosting imports but didn’t address key irritants for Washington such as a requirement for foreign companies to work through joint ventures that require them to give technology to potential local competitors.
