Trump thinks Pakistan is located in the Middle East

TEXAS - US President Donald Trump thinks Pakistan is part of Middle East.

During a border patrol meeting with officials, US President Donald Trump appeared to imply that Pakistan is located in the Middle East.

Trump flew to the Texas border with Mexico to try to bolster his case for the border wall as a partial US government shutdown tied to the issue stretched into its 22nd day with no sign of new talks to resolve the impasse.

During the meeting, a border official from South Texas told Trump that officials had apprehended two Pakistanis at the border on Wednesday.

“Yesterday we had 450 apprehensions, Mr President. Out of that, 133 from countries other than the Central American countries and Mexico. India, we apprehended some Pakistanis, some from Romania, on and on and on,” the border official told Trump.

“How many Pakistanis?” Trump asked. “Two yesterday,” the border official replied. “So far this sector has apprehended folks from 41 different countries. Just yesterday we apprehended 133 people from countries other than Central America and Mexico. That includes individuals from India, China, Pakistan, Romania, Ecuador, Nicaragua, on and on and on,” the border guard reiterated, this time addressing the cameras.

The border guard did not appear to be aware that Nicaragua is a country in Central America.

Exactly what is Middle East is largely subjective and in fact ME has only gained currency in the last 50 years. Terms like West Asia or Levant were used before that. ME is largely a political construct - it's not like there is some physical division between ME and Pakistan ~ for instance Gwadar is as ME as Oman or Dubai or Chah Bahar are.

Therefore ME is largely a recent political construct and Pakistan has increasingly been included in ME because the politics of ME have become intertwined with Pakistan. Think Al-Qaida, ISIS etc. This has become more pronounced since 9/11. OBL was caught in Pakistan. The term they use is Greater Middle East that includes Pakistan. The US military command CENTO covers all of Greater Middle East and Pakistan.

Pakistani's should be pleased that they now get lumped with Arabs etc ...

Australia will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel. The Australian broadcaster Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) will organise the national final Eurovision - Australia Decides in order to select the Australian entry for the 2019 contest in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Geographically Pakistan is considered to be part of the Subcontinent i.e. South Asia. I am fine with the Middle East too. It don't matter to me. I am not a redneck who hates the Middle East. We obviously have a lot in common with Middle Eastern culture.
