The problem is you are confusing white with some European-centric thing.
As I stated even middle easterners are considered white in the US.
If you think Bannon has some pro-european tilt in immigration then maybe that could be true but I'm sure there are plenty of European countries he wouldn't like either. So maybe he only wants people from the top European countries.
I work with a Syrian and he is about as white looking as everybody from Europe.
Have you asked Steve Bannon whether he considers Middle Easterners white unless you include Jews into that category because they like to claim they are white. A Black Saudi is not white by any definition although he may be from the Middle East. And the US media seems to be very concerned about the State of Europe. How many times does the Right-wing press in America and including Trump himself bring up Sweden? Then starts the immigration, rape, Muslims, Islamification etc etc etc. White Americans see Europe as their continent of origin. When White racism coalesced into a political force in the 18th Century in the USA it used European heritage as a galvanising point for all white people. American white identity is euro-centric. Whites in America still identify with their roots from their homeland. Do Americans still celebrate St Paddies Day? Case in point. White Americans are deeply euro-centric.
