Actually among Indians, I've found that it is typically the Northerners who look down on and hate the Southerners, not the other way around. The Northerners think they are more caucasian and superior and see the Southerners as dark and ugly.

As for Chinese people, HKers and Taiwanese used to look down on Mainlanders because they were poor, now they mainly hate Mainlanders because of the fear of being dominated.

If only the ethnic Chinese in Southeast Asia were smart and organized enough during the decolonization era to settle and seize Borneo and populate it with more Chinese immigrants (say 200 million), it'd be the Japan of the Southern hemisphere today. nope not a lie, In 1958, Indonesia declare that the double citizenship agrrement between PR China and Indonesia is nullified, and we saw a huge number of chinese go back to mainland china because they don't really want to be Indonesian after all, and for those who stay mostly it's because they couldn't afford to do so.

I do agree that what Xi Jinping has done in Xinjiang is a total overreaction and excessively disrespects the human rights of the Uighur people. One of China's major problems is that it pushes a homogeneous identity too hard and cannot tolerate true cultural diversity and this has been even more pronounced under Xi's administration. However, part of this is also due to the immense pressure the US is placing against China through shadow wars, the support of Uighur terrorist groups, HK protests, etc. that makes the Chinese govt. overly paranoid.

With that said, compare China's treatment of Muslims to India's. While on the surface, China excessively trespasses against the political rights of Uighurs, on the other hand, they also provide economic development and general stability for the majority of law abiding Uighurs. On the other hand, India does allow free speech but it has also enacted martial law in Kashmir and allowed for excessive hate speech and pogroms against Muslims which has resulted in untold death and barbarism in the most chaotic way. Of course, India is not persecuted by the global media because India is friendly to the West and is an impoverished country and not a threat. China is a massive threat because it is developing very quickly and needs to be brought down. So as you can see, the reporting and portrayal of events is very politically oriented regardless of whether China is guilty of abusing Uighur political rights, which it is.

Also, what I find really disgusting about Trump's behavior is that he actually hates Muslims. He promoted immense ignorance and hatred of Muslims during his run for presidency and promoted it afterwards in his policies. He's also been the most harmful president to the Palestinian cause. Not to mention the US has killed far more Muslims than the US, numbers in the millions. So cases like this where he feigns concerns for Muslims in order to attack China is just another example of complete hypocrisy. It's like if the KKK passed legislation against China for the eviction of Black people in Guangzhou. There is no doubt what China has done should be condemned but the fact that it is being passed by the worst perpetrator just makes any thinking person want to throw up.

You expect the Chinese to be loyal to a newly formed country, Indonesia, that never even existed before in history? Indonesia is made up of 100s of different ethnic groups and tribes, it was never a unified country until the Dutch made it a colony.

I agree those Chinese shouldn't have stayed in Indonesia, they should've formed a breakaway republic in Borneo and opened the floodgates to Chinese immigrants fleeing from Maoist China. If they were able to at least get a population of 50 million plus, it would be the superpower of SE Asia by this time.
