The White House, today, said that US President Donald Trump is "not satisfied" with the progress made by Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.
During a press conference, White House Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah told reporters that the US has restored some clarity in its relationship with Pakistan.
"For the first time we're holding Pakistan accountable for its actions," Shah told reporters.
"We've seen modest progress in terms of Pakistan's actual acknowledgement of these concerns, but the President is not satisfied with progress when it comes to Pakistan," Shah said.
Raj Shah was responding to a question on the progress made in Trump's South Asia policy.
In August 2017, while announcing US' South Asia Policy, Donald Trump called out Pakistan for giving "safe haven to agents of chaos, violence, and terror.
"We have been paying Pakistan billions and billions of dollars at the same time they are housing the very terrorists that we are fighting. But that will have to change, and that will change immediately. No partnership can survive a country's harboring of militants and terrorists who target U.S. service members and officials. It is time for Pakistan to demonstrate its commitment to civilization, order, and to peace."
He said the new strategy will include changing their approach in dealing with Pakistan.
"We can no longer be silent about Pakistan's safe havens for terrorist organizations, the Taliban, and other groups that pose a threat to the region and beyond. Pakistan has much to gain from partnering with our effort in Afghanistan. It has much to lose by continuing to harbor criminals and terrorists", Trump said during his speech.
He also said that the core pillar of US' new strategy in the region will be a "shift from a time-based approach to one based on conditions".
