Etymology of "Indon". Indonesia use this word among themselves also especially long time ago. Since Malays are always using it, Indonesian peasants now sort of ban it and deem it as slur. Nevertheless many nations still use it in formal settings and Indonesian government never complaint.
So it shows that GoI dont really take it as insults.
I can produce more etymology and writings of Indonesians using the IxxN word.

The word Indon is pejorative. The word itself can be neutral but it has been used for quite long as an insult word that it is now commonly associated with insult. Address any Indonesian, especially those who have low to no exposure to Malaysians, with the word Indon and see how they react.
You basically took one example, namely Andik, who spent 6 years in Malaysia, and ignored millions of reactions from common Indonesians. That's not a good example now is it?
Similar word would be the use of word "Cina" in Indonesia. The word itself is neutral as it is only a word variation of China. But it has been used to insult Chinese and associated as an insulting word in Indonesia, that the Indonesian government officially banned the use of Cina to address Chinese Indonesia and China in official settings. Instead, it uses Tionghoa for Chinese Indonesian and Tiongkok for the country of China. Would non Chinese Indonesian think of the word "Cina" as an insult? Maybe yes, maybe no depending on the context. But Chinese Indonesians certainly do not appreciate to be addressed as such.
You again took examples of people with exposure to Malaysia which neutralised the word to them.
This are native Indonesians -- not Malays. These are even from Indonsian government.

are there any plans to extend the line?
there's supposed to be a phase 2. Just want to know how that's coming along.I think geography might be a pretty big challenge. If they can link the islands with HSR it’ll be really convenient though.
