Treason Charges and Death Sentence for Musharaf: Analysis

Respectfully, I completely disagree. I suggest you read around elsewhere for the real story, Musharraf has cooked up a bs narrative to repair damage to his legacy.

Musharraf and his Gang of Four are fully responsible for Kargil. Many military leaders still held this grudge and bitter resentment against Musharraf too.

If there is fault on Nawaz’s part, then it’s that he took Musharraf’s word in a briefing and did not investigate the matter further and stop infiltration when it started. Even that is a stretch and the ultimate fault is Musharraf’s.
That is frightfully accurate rendition of what happened. Thank you.

Can I use your analysis , on social media ? Without your name ! .

Also, just because the state (PTI government) has backed off from the case, doesn’t compel courts to close or not proceed further.

He is guilty and he deserves it, and I’m glad we’ve got some justices like these who are upholding the constitution and taking on those who think they should be above the law.

Bravo, so whose responsibility it is to press charges of treason!!!

Musharraf validated his dictatorship and his high treason of 1999 by PCO. And subsequent PCO judges case nullified ANY and ALL court rulings during his tenure (dictatorship) that validated his actions.

The court chose the 2007 emergency, and I wish they had instead gone after the 1999 coup instead. Since the latter was clearly a more egregious case of high treason. But in both cases he removed judges and the constitution and had judges take oaths on him and not on the constitution.

Musharraf’s defence (current military leadership sponsored) tried to postpone the case. Tried to make the argument that ALL colluders in the unconstitutional actions, including Kiyani and senior judges should be tried too. They also for years made the argument that he cannot come back as he is ill, which is no doubt true. But the special court was told that they can continue the trial in absentia (without Musharraf present), which I think is fair given that it’s essentially an open and shut case for any judiciary in the world, there’s no doubt over his guilt, and they said that Musharraf and Musharraf only will be made the subject, not xyz persons, which is fair enough again.

If you want to debate technicalities of why he was tried over 2007 emergency vs 1999 coup, or make the argument that case was in absentia... these are technicalities that the defence will use to appeal after Khosa leaves. But, there is no doubt that Musharraf is a traitor, and that he did, multiple times and in multiple settings, commit high treason as defined in article 6.

There is no ambiguity on his guilt. He is guilty of high treason, one hundred percent.

Rest is just technicalities and army sponsored defence and pressure trying to save one of their own.

Hence the symbolic nature of it. Because that would end the “holy cow”
Nature being promoted.
The mythos that the men of the Army arent equally capable of engaging in corruption, nepotism and abuse of power as everyone else.

More importantly, people will no longer fear some spoilt brat because he is “general ka baita” much as they should not fear some “sector incharge” or wadere ka baita.

Musharraf committed treason in many interpretations, along with whitewashing a disastrous campaign in Kargil for which not one person of his cabal answered for sending men to certain death.

But if the bell must toll with something as tertiary as the 2007 emergency, then so be it.

Those celebrating this symbolism should realize that once this powerful cabal known as the establishment is bruised, it will do it’s best to take them down too; which will be a very good thing as well.

Since we are talking Kargil, it was not until mid May that the Air Force was informed about the "limited Operation" in Kargil. That was also after it was revealed by a fact finding team of the Air Force sent to Skardu AB.

Those brave soldiers gave their lives on the hills of Kargil to support a foolish plan by a few incompetent Generals who didn't even have the foresight to predict massive Indian response. Those idiots put the country in danger and then shifted the blame to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

This is one of the most humiliating and full of vendetta judgment given against ex-COAS General Pervez Musharaff and Pakistan Army.

Its like putting the Army which has been meddling to put on its rightful place, but very insulting and hard. Judges should review the judgement.

Trial in absentia only Musharraf .... why not Nawaz runaway clan ? Nawaz and sons ,Ishaq and sons.

.
Pakistan should consider why it remains under developed still after 70 years while its military booms massively.
