Great pictures, thanks!

If I were rich, I'd buy one of those turboprop T-6 Texan II's for a personal fun ride.

Years ago, the USAF had a standardized pilot training that took about a year. Everyone went through the same program regardless of the airplane they'd fly active duty. About 6 months were spent in the Cessna T-37, and then everyone went on tt the T-38. The theory went that anyone who graduated could fly anything in the inventory, and there was some truth to that.

It was the T-38 that gave guys problems and caused them to be assigned a more benign airplane after graduating. Guys who excelled in the T-38 got fighter or attack aircraft. Advanced trainers like the T-38, Hawk, L-39, handle and fly MUCH different from straight wing, lower-loaded airplanes.

Today, everyone goes through the T-6 program, and then the class is split, with guys destined for heavies or cargo going to the business jet, and attack/fighter still using the venerable T-38.

The T-37 is retired from the USAF. A shame, it remains a great trainer. It was designed to approximate the performance of the P-51 Mustang!

Here is a picture I snapped on a T-38 formation ride.

The K-8 is a sweet aircraft... it appears to be intermediate between the T-37 and T-38. Hotter and a bit less forgiving than the T-37, but with enough wing area to not be the handful that a T-38 is.

There is a bigger issue than that..
There is nothing between the slow Mushaq(120 knots).. and the K-8(200 knots)... pilots may have a difficult time transitioning.

Some aitrforces are turning towards turboprop aircraft for their intermediate training needs in favor of pure jets like the

and its American version T-6 Texan II (which replaced the T-37)
