Tragedy in Tehran

I agree that there's hatred and bigotry everywhere, including in Iran.

But the level of ignorance I've seen from Saudis and Gulf Arabs is extreme and unrivaled.

Speaking of twitter, Gulf Arabs have come up with the worst kinds of hashtags over the years. No other group of people in the world has matched their level of ignorance. For example, they've come up with the following hashtags in recent months:

1. "Are women human beings?"
2. "Do you women have souls?"
3. "Which tribe/family do you hate the most?"
4. "Women should be banned from public."

I haven't seen such kind of ignorance from any other group of people. It's unrivaled.

1. "Are women human beings?"
2. "Do you women have souls?"

These hashtags are either created by insane folks, or by people who wanna make some sexist jokes. No one ever in the GCC takes these subjects seriously. If you are the same person you say you are (a Kuwaiti girl), then you would %100 know that.

You don't need to say or write smthing to "cheers" on death of innocent ppl. When a country is helping a murderer in Syria, just to keep a regional power, doesn't that mean those syrians innnocent death in both side is acceptable? Helping a murderer is acknowledging that his killing are a good thing

Our presence in Syria dated back in 2013 while other countries like the USA, KSA and Turkey were there since 2011 ... from the first day we said let the ballot boxes determine the future of the Syria while they were insisting on removal of Assad .. Iran again said if removal of Assad is gonna happen then it should only take place by Syrian people and through a democratic and diplomatic mechanism and it's not any other country and people except Syrian people business but again they insisted on their policy ...

Iran and Turkey's secret talks on Syria revealed

yes they did with syrian innocent kids and woman.
Amazing.

you're the exact reason why libya is a shithole and Iran is not.

lie yourself to death. you think we give 2 shits about what a random "libyan" has to say on internet ? lol

while i'm working on PMS2 markers for lynch syndrome, you can work on fuses for your IEDs.

peace :)

I've decided to weigh in on this issue.

I've a general recollection of the Plasco building from when I studied in Tehran in 1975. Interpreting the photos of the fire fighting effort, I believe any large municipal fire department would have found the situation challenging.

The building was erected in 1962 to Iranian building standards-- such as they were back then--which did not take into account Western safety standards of the day (that are today outmoded). Looking at the photos, its apparent the outer decorative steel elements of the facade acted as a cage, inhibiting the fire fighters. The great heat generated during the hours of the burn contributed to the collapse.

Tehran fire fighters performed courageously but do not possess the training and up-to-date equipment of modern FDs. Elsewhere in the Middle East there are exchange programs where retired US and European FD (and PD) personnel are often times contracted as consultants. Not so in Iran. They are on their own.

Blaming this on a political system or the mayor, in my opinion, misses the point entirely. The failure lies in:

1) Outdated, inadequate building design and construction from the Shah era.
2) Inadequate Fire Department resources and training during the current era, including inadequate up-to-date building inspection regimens.
