Trads: The extreme Hindu nationalists inspired by alt-right memes

A new extremist Hindu movement made up mostly of young men is growing in India. They call themselves "trads" - short for traditionalists - and they mimic the tricks and techniques used by the American alt-right.
Trads love memes and loathe mainstream Hindu nationalist parties, even the ruling BJP.
They see the party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as not nearly as aggressive enough in advancing Hindu interests. In a rare on-camera interview we speak to a 16-year-old trad who's obsessed with fascist ideas and wants a Hindu monarchy.

The rise of far right politics is very worrying for the region at large. With Its rise, India's hegemonic tendencies will only increase as time goes on. The region could very well become unstable over time, as such this is not just a worry for Pakistan, but for every single South Asian nation.

I am surprised to see you making an obvious mistake. A glaring one.

These creatures are creations of the media. They can do nothing, except form a lunatic fringe that howls at the full moon.

It is the rot within the administrative infrastructure, including the personnel manning the infrastructure, that should worry the hell out of people.

Even there, there is a saving grace.

These 'influentials', the engine room people, will be totally neutralised by the stupidity of the ruling party. Try to think it through. When people - Indian AND Pakistani alike - have only one idea in their minds, and that idea is one of hate, they can't work their way out of a paper bag.

All that is happening now is that the poor are getting poorer, the rich are getting nearer, the hopeful are getting more hopeful, the pessimists are getting more pessimistic.

Perhaps I am overthinking this, but there's been a worrying trend of far right politics increasingly becoming main stream across the globe. From France, US, Canada to India, China, and Russia. Even Pakistan isn't immune, but the funny thing is that center left and right politics in Pakistan seems to be gaining more popularity rather than the far left/right politics, which has historically been the case.

The BBC really took the time to dedicate an article to these worthless and miserable incels, I have had the displeasure of interacting with these turds and oh boy are they a pitiful and insecure lot. Their "ideology" is just pure seething and hating Muslims 24/7 to fill the void in their shitty lives, and to add on their beloved Savarkar was a British pawn who wasted no opportunity to collaborate with them and served their agenda.

No, no, not overthinking. Just think of the line-up -
  • Duterte
  • Erdogan
  • Modi
  • Orban
  • Putin
  • Trump
  • Xi
There have been world-wide shifts to the right, and the old age of liberalism has gone. Good riddance, in some ways; the norms and standards transmuted to permit regime change, and were used to justify an unbelievable 'entitled' attitude towards world affairs, and towards their views of what a country should do and say to remain respectable.

Now, we are out of the frying pan.....guess where we are.

Speaking of Pakistan, look, it's a bit of luck, except that there is too much cynicism going around about your own deep state. That cynicism is not justified; nothing is going to happen overnight. You are right to point out that you are better off in some ways than other prominent countries, but someone, somewhere in Pakistan needs to take a deep breath and focus on the economy.

Perhaps that might lead miraculously to an abandoning of the moth-eaten and wholly wasteful hostility to India, but take that as an older person's muttering into his beard, and do please ignore it politely. Che sera, sera.

Thanks for the tag.

It is extremely worrying with the rise of the right around the world and sadly we’re not immune to it. More so in our region where emotions overrule logic, and we do not have the proper checks and balance in place.

While the West it’s more so race based and they want to counter the “replacement theory”, our neighbor is infused itself around the concept of a Hindu Riasat. While some will say it’s a fringe element — I feel it’s a wing of BJP you only need a small drop of oil to contaminate the water.

We as a nation (Pakistan) will need to build ourselves up to counter this growth, personally I feel we need our own right wing element. Being to relaxed and think we can reason with them could be a fatal mistake.

One thing I know is that Hindus never cross the line. They are peaceful, understanding and accomodative. The right wing rise is verbal and cultural in nature and not communal and harming physically as the west liberals are trying to portray.

What a joke they can't even think of anything original ever, even their politics is stolen.
One thing they can't imitate is being tough, we all know the average weight of a hindutva 'soldier' is 100lbs and his height 5ft 3, less than most western women.

LOL!

A fair analysis.

As for hostility, it honestly seems like with increasing right wing rhetoric in India, and a decrease in Pakistan that the hostility is now coming from India rather than Pakistan.

Bit I suspect we may not completely see eye to eye on this part. 😅

Because they can't fight. Have you seen any of them entering or making a name for themselves in full contact combat where other races compete? Nope.
