Trade war — my simple explanation

How would it push manufacturing to Asia, when "undeveloped" Asian countries already had labour protection laws stronger than that of US (thanks to red scare,) and were ratifiers of Montreal protocol and its predecessors before US did?

Malaysia and Japan did sue trichloroethylene leakers heavily in eighties and nineties, unlike the US, where lobbyists kept it in use till late nineties.

For as long as you don't concern yourself with most exotic chemical products, and electronics, it's hard to fathom how would light industry see its being subject to environmental protection acts.

I felt it that somebody here will pull textiles. Lead dyes were forbidden back in nineties.

You did a nice diversion here. What you says makes little difference to the fact that US garment industry died out long before China could have done anything to it. It's totally your own doing.

What? Lead is just one of many substances that cause pollution in the garment industry. There’s things like Nonylphenol Ethoxylates, phthalates, amines, etc..

And what? Even poor Bangladesh imposes treatment requirements on tanneries, and such. I know well as I am working in manufacturing myself. I don't see US companies abandoning it. I completely defeated your argument. China had nothing to do with US industry self destructing.

For someone in manufacturing you are certainly missing the big picture. For instance where does the synthetic fabrics come from to make clothes? It’s coming from chemical plants.

For many industries where the end product looks innocuous a whole chain of other industries are behind them...that are not.
