500-800k died in the US as a result of the Spanish flu of 1918, when the US population was approx 105 million. Now the US population is 330 million. Btw, the US civil war saw the deaths of approx. 750k Americans when the population was approx. 31-38 Million. Regardless of the per capita death rate, this will still be remembered as a major loss of life.

I reckon the real reason the Chinese deaths are so low , It’s probably came down to the Chinese people being more co-operative following one national instructions. While the USA states had different ways to tackle there own corvid. and India turned out to be a total fail.

Flu first appeared in 1918 and by now there are many mutated strains. It looks like flu is here to stay. Back then reporting was lacking but it seems covid kills more than flu does.

FYI, there are indeed ways to conduct epidemiological studies while preserving individual patient identities. But you would rather try to throw up a smokescreen of lies to try to obscure China's pivotal role in causing the pandemic. Shame!

But the request wasn't for statistically significant numbers of people used for epidemiology studies. It was for a very small subset of known people who, even with anonymous data, could be found easily due to the small sample size. The purpose is also not for a study approved by any IRB which is required for studies involving human subjects but rather a political witch hunt. China has no duty to cooperate and nobody can compel China to.
