Where did you get this $50 trillion number? I'm presuming out of thin air. As for the popularity of the dollar, it's strong because its economy is doing much better than the rest of the world. Helped by foreign money pouring in to invest, including real estate. So I don't know what ground realities you are talking about here.

Dude, did you even bother to read the article you posted? It paints a very doom and gloom picture that is far worse that what I had anticipated. Here's the conclusion from this very article:

Not a pretty picture by any stretch of the imagination, basically a never ending sent cycle with an increasing tax burden on the poor and middle class american families. You don't wanna talk economics with me. the u.s. does not have $210 trillion dollars in circulation but yet, it owes it. There is a reason why major powers are unpegging themselves from the u.s. dollar. Just do the math.

In the interest of accuracy, the US debt is about $20 trillion.

The cost of the 'War on terror' is difficult to say. I have heard the figure of $1.75 trillion for the Afghan/Iraq wars, and also the figure of $5 trillion for all the various adventures. As a guide, the annual US budget is $1 trillion.

Anybody has concrete figures, let us know.
