According to the Gardner 2017 World Machine Tool Survey, China installed over $27 billion of machine tools in 2016.
China is outpacing the United States in the annual installation of new machine tools and industrial robots. We should expect China's economy to keep closing the gap with the United States and for Chinese-manufactured exports to remain robust. Business conditions in China must be good, because China consistently invests heavily in new machine tools and industrial robots year-after-year.
Mexico is an aberration on the machine-tool list due to foreign maquiladora assembly plants that installed machine tools. Mexico is not an industrial power. There is no Mexican equivalent to China's Huawei, Lenovo, ZTE, Xiaomi, SANY, Haier, Hisense, TCL, etc.
