Top 5 things about Vietnam. Saigon 2015 Street View

This is a very interesting history. Do you know the moment the late Ming dynasty descendants met with Qing dynasty Chinese migration, what they thought of and talked about with each other? This unique scene couldn't happen in China, you know, it pasted about 300 years.

How could we know correctly about them at that time? One war after another war, most communication might be difficulty.
not sure when, probably during the nguyen dynasty, so begin of 19 century, and they met here: hoi an, a small town in central vietnam. ming loyalists and families, qing merchants, who fled china because of prosecution. the nguyen emperor granted land rights to the new chinese-vietnamese in the new frontier southern vietnam, mekong delta and so on, annexted from the khmer kingdom. chinese developed the land, founded the present day chinatown.

As u ask, after Invasion of China by Manchu in the 17th century, sparked a new wave of immigration, part Chinese immigrants to become miners, traders, farmers as well as officials and soldiers in Vietnam, most of them after was sent to control the rebel in southern province, some high skilled in pottery, crafting and mining were sent to Pho Hien, a town in Hung Yen . Those immigrant till then are mostly Han Chinese, after Qing took over, many Chinese of different ethnic were migrate to Vietnam, they are speak different languages as you know, so different ethnic form different community, most Han origin was in the South that time and other minority in the North, 20 out of 54 ethnic of Vietnam original from China. And most of Chinese are support Nguyen Dynasty, so by time most of them migrate to the South together with Nguyen Lord. Nguyen Lord put them in community and promote popular language that time to those community, and after that sum them as Hoa or Minh Huong to easy control, most of whom are not in same ethnic or speak same language

Actually the democratic Viet govt asked them to come because they needed investment. They came, developed Vietnam, employed local Vietnamese. In 1976, after South Viet collapsed many of these people were forced into labour camps, most fled, their shops and houses were looted. That is how Vietnamese thank their savior.
u should read history about that time again, most of them transfer back to the North and migrate back to China but CCP after certain amount close border and refuse them, some pro-west Chinese was migrate by boat to Asia with pro-Western view or Western nation

We just know them briefly. We are not sure about details after they left China. You know, in the whole ancient period, Chinese emperors didn't encourage or allow people migrate abroad. As long as they left China, the govt or emperor would not be responsible for them. This tradition changed in 1890's. At that time, Qing dynasty first time deployed a warship to Mexico to protect immigration after a small riot, 19 Chinese were dead in the incident.

Vietnamese are very sensitive to the word boat. Why?

Certainly, Vietnamese refugee back in 1975 don't wanna see that word "boat", most of them are SVN officer familes that run away from Communist, some of them run away in believe CPV will kill them like how CCP did in Cultural Revolution

okay, I get it. Forget it please, embrace the new life. We never ever laughed at the refugees, that's a disaster, normal people had no ability to stop the political civil war. Hope it not to happen again.

By the way, cultural revolution was not a war, the revolution was about thinking and mainly referred to the politicians. We normal citizens has limited influences.
