That tower is one of the largest free standing structures in the world with revolving restaurants and shops. Built with huge amounts of concrete and steel to make it earth quake proof (notice the size of the people standing on the rails!).

Karachi could easily have been in this list, but it is not, due to two factors.

1- It is under the control of Asif Zardari and his son Bilawal Zardari. They are more interested to accumulate wealth in Dubai, London, Paris, Flordia than spending on Karachi. How the city would progress in the presence of such thieves and their henchmen!!

2- Because of the crimes of Ishaq Dar. The criminal has caused untold damage to the finances of Pakistan and the value of the rupees by borrowing heavily in the name of private companies with sovereign guarantees. Letting the Imports get out of hand and creating over $20 bn current account deficit.

If rupees was close to Rs 100 to a US $1 , the same Rs 20,320 ($177 billion) billion rupees economy of Karachi would have been (20320/100) $203.2 billion.

It makes a huge difference. That's why the goods are getting expensive in Pakistan, it is not fault of IK or PTI. It is simple maths , same goes for increase in foreign loans, when you convert them in rupees.

Skyscrapers are a methodology borrowed from 1950s American arrangement of cities. Obsolete.

OTOH what is correct about America is its suburbs system : two-storey houses with lawn and one tree at least, with the lawn leading to a good-sized footpath and a wide road. Calm area.

A good city should have residential areas arranged as above plus offices and malls which are horizontally spread as per their purpose, instead of vertical. The offices having gardens as well.

Another good thing... a wonderful things in fact, would be to ban all privately-owned personal transport vehicles and make taxi system and mass public transport system ( ideally buses ) more efficient and more in number. I have been speaking of this on PDF for two years I think and a few weeks ago the Saudi crown prince announced a planned Saudi city called NEOM where private cars won't be allowed, or needed. And @_NOBODY_ told me of a similar Chinese project called Tencent City.

Add to that four to five storey Vertical Farms and general Urban Farms ( for trees ) at neighborhood level.

What do you mean ?

Well, as you can read above I would go for drastically less than that. Four or max five storeys and the buildings proofed for fire and earthquake.

I am with you on the no private vechiles part...But India needs more forest area..I guesss Pak too...So we cannothave really spread out cities..better to have dense vertical cities with good public transports...40 percent of India covered by forests is ideal...and may be 30 percent agricultural land...and at most 10 percent land in cities..I meant that builders can make good profits till around 63 floors...

after that its more of an ego, competition, prestige, flagship, tourism thing

.
Muslim city, guess that is how it is, Muslim city, Muslim nation vs non Muslim city, non Muslim nation.
Not secular nations. Very different from East Asia, much of SE Asia, Europe and the Americas. Very different people.

.
I was wondering about that..something wrong with that list..Doha also..should be there .

Doha ?

as of 2020 , Qatar had $147 billion of GDP nominal

I was not able to find Abu Dhabi on the list ! it has a GDP nominal of 252 billion US$ in 2018

in 2018 ISTANBUL had $378 billion of GDP Nominal

but American president TRUMP attacked Turkish economy in 2018 and 1 USD has risen to 7,2 Turkish Lira from 3,9 TL

Abu Dhabi GDP hits Dhs620bn ( $168 billion ) for first nine months of 2019
