Trying to divert the attention by saying it's not that bad in India, in fact it's worse than bad, but most Indians try to divert the negative facts. Ask any women in India how bad it really is, don't take my word for it. Like I said I loved India but was disgusted by a few things.

apart from south africa, none of the other countries should be in that list.. most of these countries have high 'reported' crime rate because of good justice system that people have faith on.(except india)

Compared to other countries on the list India is very large, and yet comes at no 5. I would say that the better measure of rape is rape per 1000 people than absolute rape numbers.

People with low intellect never surprise me. In countries like Pakistan, India, and Saudi Arabia - Rape is not reported as much for reasons such as cultural, family, and weak legal system.

Nothing can be hidden in this era due to access to internet.Educated mass would really prefer to analyse first.
But sadly bad news bout India sells more which we should not bother about.It would be wasting time.

As we all can see that bulk of countries in the list are free societies with greater freedom of expression.
India , as a society, is in transition. With greater and easy access to pornography..(Thanks Jio)., many consider sex/ rape as easy as shown in ****...This may explain many mms clips..and sudden spurt in rape cases.
Greater acceptability of rape victim in society also brings more cases in media. This can not be imagined in any ME country , for example.
In late 1960s when Sweden and other countries legalised ****, there was spike in crime against women, but soon it tapered off.
..I may be in minority today, but I do believe that India should legalize prostitution. It serves both ways. It reduces ' pressure' in society and other it provides legal protection to sex workers.
India must come out of the Victorian era norms on sex and adopt a more practical attitude towards sex......

But rape are not reported by lower caste people because cops do not care for the safety of lower caste women. Sad.
