So the historians say marathas also desecrated temples for gold when they raided (east india particularly) - that proves marathas were not religious zealots.
Their defence of Tipu seems to be that he was a great general. Nobody is disputing that.
They do not seem to dispute the forced march of nayars and catholics and forced conversions. How does Tipus miitary prowess whitewash his forced conversions recorded in his own official documents is something I fail to understand.
If people do not want to celebrate a general who tormeted their ancestors only because of faith, how does that go against secularism? Secularism now demands that we worship our toementors? Then Pakistanis are the most secular people naming everything after people who raped and slaughtered. Do the liberals want us to become another pakistan?????
