BEIJING, May 2 (Xinhua) -- China and India have engaged in close contact and consultation with aims to properly handle problems along their border, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said on Thursday.

In response to Indian media reports of a "stand-off" along a western part of the China-India borderline, Hua Chunying said that the two sides are communicating with each other closely through a consultation and coordination mechanism on border issues.

Through this contact, both sides have learned more about each other's concerns and stance, helping to find an appropriate solution to the problems, said the spokeswoman at a daily news briefing.

The border issues are a problem left over from history, Hua said, adding that the two countries have reached consensus that they should not affect the overall bilateral relationship between China and India.

"We believe that China and India are wise and capable enough to handle the existing differences and problems while boosting friendly cooperation between the two countries," she added.

The spokeswoman said it is inevitable for the neighboring countries to have certain problems along the border.

"What is important is that the two sides should resolve the problems by friendly consultation through the mechanisms and related channels," she said, adding that maintaining peace and stability along the border is in both countries' interests.

Indian Foreign Minister to visit China

Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid will pay an official visit to China from May 9 to 10 as a guest of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Friday.

Chinese leaders will meet with Khurshid and Wang Yi will hold talks with his Indian counterpart during Khurshid's visit, ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a daily press briefing.

"The two sides will exchange views in an in-depth way on bilateral relations and other issues of common concern," said Hua.

The spokeswoman hailed the development of China-India relations in recent years, highlighting their increasing political mutual trust, practical and fruitful cooperation and effective coordination in international and regional affairs.

"We are ready to make joint efforts with the Indian side to advance the strategic cooperative partnership through the visit," she said.

According to Hua, China and India are committed to resolving differences including border issues through peaceful negotiations while advancing friendly cooperation between the two countries, to ensure that the differences will not affect bilateral ties.

The two sides are communicating through related mechanisms and channels to solve incidents that happened in the border region, she said.

"The Chinese side is willing to work together with the Indian side to maintain peace and tranquility in the border region," Hua said.

Indian media is tabloid media like British media. Even though the American media only does propaganda, atleast it's got some professionalism about it. Indian and British media are so sensationalistic that they cry wolf every article. It can't be taken seriously because its all tabloids.

It is a free press unlike yours that is used to brainwash Chinese citizenry. all this censorship is quite telling- Your own govt thinks it citizens are too immature to read certain articles, hence it censors it for people like you.

As i said before the news is 3, May 2013 (Chinese source) however the journalists had asked the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson much before that on confirmation of the ministers visit. But she had not confirmed it then for the second time which resulted in the news article(TOI article is of 2, May 2013).

Basically too much was read in to the news by TOI. They should have had waited for some more time for the official announcement of the visit from the Chinese side before coming to conclusions.

It's tabloid journalism. Just shouting and yelling at each other. Very sensationalistic headlines and extremely unprofessional. I was watching a debate on China-India on YouTube called 'timesonline' and the host just yells and yells. The host was called Goswami.

Another edited title thread.

This coconut dweller is licking his master's boot, he represent net cognitive ability of all loud mouth CCTV news hosts. His sycophancy has reached its peak and comprehension has gone down at the bottom after living among likewise Zombies.

It's very interesting that nearly every Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan have supported us throughout this incident. Just goes to show how hated India is in its neighbourhood. The squeaky clean image Indians give have been exposed. No wonder India's neighbours want our presence in South Asia to keep India in its cage.

rather have free and open debate than be treated like morons by the government and disallowed from even reading dissenting opinions. That tells you a lot of what your own govt thinks of your maturity and intellect to handle mere words.
