North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) distributed more than 600,000 pounds of food for about 25,000 people on Saturday, according to spokeswoman Anna Kuruan. There were 7,280 turkeys distributed to families, Kuruan told CNN.
Photos provided by NTFB show thousands of cars lined up for NTFB's Drive-Thru Mobile Pantry at Fair Park. Kuruan said the need for food "has certainly increased" with the pandemic, with Texas last week becoming the first US state to report 1 million cases of coronavirus.

"Forty percent of the folks coming through our partners doors are doing so for the first time," she said.
"I see blessings coming to us cause we all struggling. And I appreciate North Texas helping us out," Dallas resident Samantha Woods told CNN affiliate KTVT as she waited in her vehicle.
"It really is amazing and I thank God that I was able to get in the line this morning."

In another car, one woman told the station she had been struggling: "I haven't been working since December. I can't find a job, they cut off my unemployment -- it's a big deal. It's a real big deal."

The poor really struggle in the USA, income disparity must have widened further during this pandemic.

Charity is a sign of a state failing its duties. Salutations to those kind souls who help and shame on the richest govt. In the world not being able to take care of its most vulnerable.

Texas has no state income tax. My state does. Let Texas bail them out not the Federal Government using my taxes.

I find the absence of collective responsibility ( my personal opinion coloured by my experiences) in Americans to be strange. Being a part of a nation comes with not only benefits but also responsibilities. I might be wrong though, one reason might be that on average Americans don't trust the ruling polity to a large extent.

If everyone chips in equally, the majority benefit. If it's each man for himself, the majority of those that do need help end up suffering. You guys have the best, brightest and the wealthiest of the world, surely something that addresses the root causes of problems can be thought of.

I can't speak for Texas since it is so far away it may as well be Guam.

I work for a financial company. No layoffs and the entire company has been working at home since March. This is not unusual for Massachusetts since we often get blizzards forcing the state to completely shutdown so companies already have this sorted out. No employees have gotten Coronovirus but we pretty much all live in quiet suburbs.

However the hardest hit areas are mostly low income towns/city areas with a high percentage of renters and multi-unit properties.

Stores are open. Malls are open. Gyms open. Masks required.
I think theaters are still closed and restaurants have to be outside (with it being November that may get tricky).

Illinois might go back to hard lockdown like March.

"I work for a financial company" that's a good cover. A lot of Chinese and Indian RAW bots say similar things.

Absolutely no idea. Just because you are known in Pakistan doesn't mean you are a somebody in the US.

Stop beating around the bush. Recently I've been getting a lot of 502 bad bateways. I hope it's not you guys trying to surveil/sabotage my network/cell phone.

This is unfortunate but I feel this could get a little worse before it gets better. A lot of these jobs gone aren’t coming back, these people will have to adopt to a new world soon.

Grocery stores and restaurants throw out enough food to feed Americans for a couple weeks.
