Big population doesn'e always mean better development, otherwise European countries will be the least developed regions in the world, US has big economy in dollar terms, but over half of Americans are in debt, they can't save much, cause the cost of living is very high, numbers on paper don't alway give you a comfortable life. When China Surpasses USA in quality not quantity that would be something to write home. Population of 1.3 billion is bound to take you near USA who have a population of 300 million but still have a higher GDP . Average American is still 5 times more productive and richer though.
If popultion size decides development, all countries can just try to have more babies instead of hardworking, and south Asia should be the richest place in the world instead of being one of the poorest.
