Jordanians upset over preacher who denounced stabbing Jews as "barbaric terror"

A moderate Salafi preacher in Amman caused a firestorm when he spoke out against Palestinian terrorists stabbing Jews.



Sheikh Omar Ibrahim Abu Talha called the stabbings a "barbaric act of terrorism" and said that the Palestinians who were killed while trying to stab Jews were not martyrs.

Jordanians were incensed at the preacher.

Reports say that they reacted during the speech and he Abu Talha had to be escorted out of the mosque.

A group appealed to the Ministry of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) to prevent not only Abu Talha but all similar moderate Dalafi preachers from being able to give speeches in public.

5 Palestinians dead, 150 injured by Israeli forces

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Five Palestinians died and at least 150 were injured by Israeli live fire and rubber-coated steel bullets in the occupied Palestinian territory on Friday, the Palestinian ministry of health said.

Ihab Jihad Hanani, 19, was shot dead by Israeli forces during clashes in Nablus, Yahiya Abd al-Qader Farhat, 24, and Mahmoud Hatim Hmeid, 22, were killed during demonstrations in the Gaza Strip, and Shawiq Jamal Jabr, 37, died from wounds sustained during a demonstration in the Gaza Strip last week.

Separately, Eyad Khalil Awawdeh, 26, was shot dead after stabbing an Israeli soldier in the illegal Kiryat Arba settlement in Hebron.

Friday marked another deadly day in the occupied Palestinian territory, where clashes between Palestinians and Israeli military forces have erupted on a near-daily basis since the beginning of the month.

In Bethlehem, at least 12 were injured during clashes with Israeli forces at the northern entrance to the town.

Head of the ambulance and emergency department in Bethlehem, Muhammad Awad, told Ma'an that three youths were injured by live fire in the legs, five with rubber-coated steel bullets, and four suffered from severe tear gas inhalation.

3rd Palestinian shot dead after alleged attacks in Hebron, Jerusalem

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian teenager was shot dead Saturday by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron after allegedly stabbing an Israeli border police officer in the third alleged attack of the day.

Palestinian locals said that Israeli forces opened fire at the woman close to the the Wadi al-Ghrus area near the illegal Kiryat Arba settlement.

She was identified as 17-year-old Bayan Ayman Abd al-Hadi al-Esseili.

Her family told Ma'an they were informed by Israeli authorities that their daughter had been killed after she stabbed a soldier.

A border police woman sustained light injuries to her hand, according to Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld, who reported that a "female terrorist was shot at the scene."

Fadil Qawasmi, 18, was shot dead by an Israeli settler earlier Saturday morning on Shuhada Street in Hebron's Old City, hours before a 16-year-old Palestinian was shot dead in occupied East Jerusalem.
